Holy moley what did I get myself into?

I've never claimed to have a green thumb - in fact, me in a greenhouse is usually grounds for a serial killer trial. Not a chartreuse, olive drab (that would be the hair story here), lime, khaki thumb, none of it. Not me. Uh nuh. So when I had my house built, I talked to a friend that is a landscaper - and he knows me. Knows that I need LOW maintenance. Like, lower than Flo-Rida's pants low. The house came with sod in the front, dirt in the back (kind of a house mullet?). So my friend put in a tree, couple of bushes, and some mulch. Fine. I went out and bought a couple of flats of annuals (who named them that, anyway, it's damn confusing) and promptly killed most of them because I didn't plant them right away. Who knew. Obviously not me. I had the best of intentions. That counts, right?

Next, the grass. I bought a bag that says it covers 1,000 sq. feet. My whole lot is 5,000 - so I figured that would be enough - got a cup, started throwing it out - and ran out not even halfway through. You would think that then I might have stopped? No. I go and get the 7lb bag that says it covers 3,000 sq. feet and use all that up. I think I got everywhere, I'm not sure. Next, I'm told to water the shit out of it - OK - so by watering the shit out of it, does that mean flood my yard? Because that's pretty much what I've done. And of course - I don't do it in the logical way, so every time I go to pick up the sprinkler (I have 3, none seem to be working correctly) I have to walk through MUD. One spigot is leaking (note to self, call home builder), my house is so close to my neighbors that I can't water the grass between the houses without watering both of our houses, his air conditioning unit, and all of our windows.

I keep finding puddles with grass seed floating in them. I feel like Frankenstein, outside yelling "LIVE!! LIVE!!! LIVE!!!"...

I may have planted sunflower seeds here up close to the house

those are vegetables, we'll see if they live

This is where the grass is - note how wet the ground is? Is that what "soak the shit out of it" means?? Oh, and at the corner of the filthy patio? That is a peony - I planted one at both outer corners. They'd better live, they're my favorites. I'll be pissed if they die. PISSED I tell you!

What the hell was I thinking?!?!?!?!?

Friday fun time!

I haven't done one in a while, I'm due :)

To play along, click here and thanks to Janet!

1. Moving sucks, there's no two ways about it. I would rather take a red hot poker and jab it through my right eye and have it come out the back of my skull than move any time soon....

2.I'm free! free as a bird! free to be me! Why am I thinking of Marlo Thomas here? LOL

3. My best quality is well, to most people it would be my cunning wit and stellar sarcasm. But if you're a guy - it'd be the big boobs. LOL.

4. Sometimes things get lost in the details.

5. In nearly 10 years, I have seen Bruce Springsteen more times than I can count. It's not a hobby, it's an obsession. Well, it was at least. Not so much now that I'm no longer independently wealthy and have to work full time. LOL (and no - I was never independently wealthy, I just didn't have to work full time).

6. OMG you SO don't even want me to answer this right now - because it would be WAY too much information.. is what I need right now!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to the local baseball team's opening night, tomorrow my plans include a pedicure, farmer's market and hopefully some gardening (shoot me now, I kill things) and Sunday, I want to party like a rock star because I'm off on Monday!!!

Have a great long weekend everyone - be safe!!

Just some silliness....

One of the girls that works in the clerk's office across the hall from me collects M&M's stuff. Every time I go over there for something, I *liberate* another item. I've now got quite the collection. I'm thinking of now moving it to someone else's desk, and then in our monthly newsletter, advertising the M&M stuff and putting the person who's desk I move it to's name. Of course, they'd have to be as oblivious as person #1 - who has no clue that anything is missing. LOL

Another thing - there's a meat market going in right down the street from me. As a single gal, I find this a bit.. well... interesting. Is it going to be a place to meet single men? Are they going to be hanging from hooks and I get to pick out my favorite? The possibilities of the fun that I can have with this are just endless...

LOL

Happy Hump Day!

Checking in...

OK - so I didn't get the nose done yesterday - I ended up staying home with the boy who's toe looks like he dropped something nasty and heavy on it and we thought it was broken. Xrays say it's not, but he's going to milk it for what it's worth. LOL
Maybe Monday (maybe sooner, who knows...)

My dear friend Chrissy has a post just about every Friday that is just wonderful. This week she's talking about the carpet matching the drapes. Which makes me think - heck - I can't even see the damn carpet and I don't look, cuz really - who wants to look at their own who-haa?? Not me! So I'm going to have the drapes colored today and to hell with the carpet!

My other bloggy friend Pseudo that gave me the best box of STUFF ever (loved the Wasabi nuts, they were my favorite) check it out has some awe inspiring pictures up that if you're not near a beach and need one, just go look. It'll cure all that ails you. :)

So. Interesting week. My friend found the wedding registry of the FFW and she's pretty damn cheeky - signing up for a laptop and other high-end items that really shouldn't be found on a wedding registry - but I guess it just shows her lack of class. And from there, we found out other information about her wedding, etc. and while I could really go to the dark side, it's not worth it. She's getting married at my old home - the lake house. So all I'll say is let's just all wish for rain on June 13th, shall we?

My new BFF, Jackie - keeps posting these amazing quotes on her facebook each day, and they are just inspiring. So Thank You Jackie. Especially for this one...
Watch your thoughts, they become your words. Watch your words, they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny. I don't want my destiny or character to be about how I got back at anyone for doing me wrong - I'll let karma take it's course and know that it will all work out in the end. I was in a good place until the shit started up with my son, and I need to get back to that good place and keep my head up and know that I am and always will be the better person and stuff like having other kids say stuff to my son just shows what her character is.

I'm finally catching up on Brothers & Sisters. Holy shamole there's a lot of stuff going on. I think one of my favorite parts so far is the 2 hour special where David just BLASTS Holly about staying with William Walker and waiting for whatever crumbs he'll throw her, and how he loved her but couldn't take watching that and how she deserved so much more - it was just a great scene and I wish someone had been there a long time ago to say something like that to me. I might be in a different place right now, who knows.

Lost season finale? Can I just say? HOLY SHIT! Didn't expect THAT in the box!!

Well, happy Saturday! I'm off to get my hair done did, then clean some more of my house and watch more rain come down... I might even go see Star Trek. oooooooohhhh :)

Friday Fill In!

Click here to play along :)

1. If we had no winter we'd have no snow and life would be very boring - how could we ski? What would we have to complain about during the winter?.

2.My son, to me is a a perpetual astonishment.

3. If I had my life to live over I probably wouldn't change much - our experiences make us who we are today and I kind of like me! Although..... there was that one time.... LOL.

4. I'll be sleeping in my bed again inside of four and twenty hours.

5. If you've never been thrilled you haven't lived!.

6. To be interested in the changing seasons is to know what is going on around you.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to celebrating Kim's new job and maybe getting my nose pierced!, tomorrow my plans include hopefully getting some stuff planted and cleaning this house! and Sunday, I want to enjoy Haley's birthday party, watch a baseball game and just chill!

Happy Mother's Day

An ooooooooooooold picture of me and the boy - he was graduating from preschool! LOL

This is my mother, the boy and 2 of my nephews, my brother is in the background. She died less then 2 years after this was taken of colon cancer.

Happy Mother's day to all ~ if your mom is still around, appreciate her (even if she is a pain in the ass)... you'll miss her when she's gone. Well, most of you will. Some? Not so much. LOL

Enjoy :)

Halloooooooooooooooooooo!

Apparently I've been given some awards that I need to chase down. :) Way cool. :)

Long week - some good stories about work, will post those later. Couple of baseball games (we lost both, but they were damn good games), dog peed on the couch twice, the boy is back down to D's, I'm going to start painting this week I think and today I am going to rip out some bathroom carpeting. Yes. Bathroom.

Will post more later, but in the meantime - if you're a fan, enjoy... this is one of my favorites....

I'm trying to find "My Generation" from last night in PA. Holy moley..
I've got to find tapings of these shows..

ugh...

Well, an update of sorts about that situation. I spoke with the father, and yesterday the boy and I both got apologies. Not sure how sincere they were, but we got them. I told him that he needs to understand that it isn't true, and saying stuff like that can get him into a lot of trouble and he needs to understand how serious that is, and maybe he needs to think about who his friends are if they're lying like that about people. And funny, he couldn't for the life of him remember who he heard it from. Go figure... =insert silly eye roll here=..

And then for a good chunk of the game his wife was sitting with the FFW, and then they were all talking and hanging out after the game.

There are days I just want to slam my head against a brick wall.

Just when you thought

it all was shit... T-Mobile comes up with this... watch and smile :)

Arrrgh....

So life is good. I have a job I love, my house is great and I pay my mortgage every month on time, the boy is doing better in school - all is well, right? Yeah.
Let me tell you a tale...

Last week, the boy got hit by a pitch. Thrown by one of the FFW's kids (you can read about her here). I would hope that it wasn't on purpose, and I would really hope that her laughing afterward was for something else, and not because my kid got hit. I tell him that it wasn't on purpose, way to take one for the team, all that - blow it off.

Then yesterday. A kid that is friends with the FFW's middle child (and on the same team as the boy) says something to the boy during practice about how he has "nice catcher's gear, did your mom buy that with money she stole from Theo?".... His response was "uh, NO - it was a Christmas gift".

WHAT??? HUH????? What the FUCK has this kid been told for him to say that to mine?
Seriously? SERIOUSLY? This is beyond ridiculous. It's blatant bullshit. And I went to the coach about it - because teammates should be respectful toward each other, not this crap. And he tells me that he heard something said about the FFW's kid trying to hit the boy while he was pitching - BEFORE he hit him.

Needless to say? I'm not happy about it, and need to step back and figure out how to deal with this without making myself look like the crazy person here.

Seriously?

well allRIGHTY then!

It seems like more and more that I'm fighting for computer time with the boy. It may be time to cave and get a 2nd computer or something that makes my wireless work, which has not since I got my phone through Comcast. Has anyone tried the new AT&T U-Verse yet? Any thoughts on it? THAT would take care of my wireless issue.....

Anywhoo...

Please take two moments out of your day to #1 read here and check out my Relay for Life team page, and donate if you can. And #2 read here about my friend Pseudo and go vote for her, she's in 2nd place now and there is no good reason that she's not in first!!

And speaking of my good friend Pseudo........ it was like Christmas in my house! I won an awesome prize package from Hawaii (no it did not include round trip tickets and a place to stay - but close!)... there were necklaces of untold beauty, macadamia nuts that are to die for, some great cooking sauces, an absolutely gorgeous sarong, some wasabi nuts (WASAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABI!!!), refrigerator magnets, you name it - it was there. And oh yeah - coffeeeeeeeeee......... mmmmmmmmmm coffee......... toasted coconut coffee..... if you could combine all of my favorite things Hawaiian, this is it (well, except for LOST, but that can't easily be packaged and shipped to EBF Michigan LOL).. I thank you again, my friend. :)

It's been a busy week. Got B and a C in my classes for the semester. I'll take it - with the amount of effort I put in - I did get the grades I deserved, so that's OK. :) I still have a 3.5 GPA.

I've been walking around the house with the dog on a leash. So far so good.

I have a tree and 3 little bushes in my back yard. I think they are to be planted this week, I think that there will be a patio this week. I think that warmer weather is on it's way. My friend Kym wants me to meet a cute guy. I think I might! I love my new job still - it is so much better than traffic!!

Some disappointing news... I won't have 40 hours to take a full week on Cape Cod like I planned, but I think I'm actually going to take a couple of days split up (do long weekends here) and then do a really long weekend there instead. I think it'll all work out. :)

Happy Saturday!

Kathy

**ETA - I can't post a picture of all my goodies because my camera is no longer powering on. Yikes. It crapped out on the way to Disney in Cali - I'm hoping it's just a battery issue.
