Can't I just say myself and a good book? LOL

Fifteen Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme.

Let's go!!!

Fifteen Meme

from Liv Rants

What was your first job like?
My first job was in the kitchen of a hospital that was up the street.  I delivered meals to the rooms, collected the trays and also cleaned them.  It was a good job.  I kept it through HS.  And for the most part, I liked the people that I worked with.  There were a couple of mean girls, but aren't there everywhere?

It’s a typical Sunday, how are you spending it?

Hmmm... Got up.  Having coffee.  Will maybe meet some friends for the usual Sunday Bloody Mary bar (see yesterday's post for a picture) and then I'm having a Norwex party.  I think it's pretty good stuff.  And hey - anything to save the environment!

What was the happiest day of your life?

Hmm... Why that would be the day after my 31st birthday.  I got the best present ever!  Wanna see??

What was the best decision you ever made?
I've made a few pretty stellar ones.  Number one?  Having that little cherub in the above picture in the first place.  I was discouraged for quite a while from having him and I'm glad that I stood my ground.  You know - the "if you love me..." game?  yeah.  I won.

Number Two?  Moving to Michigan.  Giving that little cherub more of his Mom than he had in MA.

Tell your go-to “pretend” game as a child (who was your alter-ego?)

Huh?   I didn't have an alter-ego, but I did have a lot of friends.  The Bradys were my best friends - so were the Partridges. I read a lot, that was my "escape".

What email service do you use?

Isn't that a little intrusive?  I use gmail, if you must know.

What fandoms would you consider yourself a part of?

Well, I'm a fan of me.  I am not, however, a fan of any of that vampire shit.  I am a fan of the Walking Dead.  I'm that show's bitch.  I haven't liked a show this much since LOST.

Do you use anything on your lips? (eg. Chapstick, gloss, balm, lipstick)

Yeah, your mom's butt.  LOLOLOL  I like the eos ball thingie.

How many devices do you own which can access the internet?

2 PC's, 2 iPads, 2 smart phones.  And a Wii,and an  XBox 360.  I think that's it.

Last strong smell you can remember smelling?

Oh man, there was an overwhelming smell of tunafish last night at the bar.  Not sure if it was someone that hadn't bathed in a long time, or what.  But yeah.  Yuck.

If you had to move your birthday to another date, which one would you choose and why?

I like mine!  It's United Nations Day.  I'm not switching.  Dammit.  LOL

Inspiration behind your blog title?
Oh, that's a good one.  It's MY space.  MY blog.  MY life.  If you don't like it?  Don't read it.  This is my place to vent, bitch & moan, all that.  Again, don't like something?  Don't read it.   And certainly don't search on the internet for it.  Because you might not like what you read.

If you could spend a rainy day with anyone in the world, who would you choose and why?
oh Jesus, I don't know.  I don't know that I'd like to be locked in with anyone for a whole day.   Can't I just say myself and a good book?  LOL

Is there a foreign culture that you love?
I think that all foreign cultures are great - there are foreign countries that I'd like to visit, that I know I'd really love - but that's just a weird question.  Gooney goo goo.

Do you have a favorite soft drink?I usually don't drink soda that often, but Diet Pepsi is my go to.

Yup, I looked this one up. I'll admit it.

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) In this song, our hero tells Susan that "no other girl could ever take the place of you." Crazy Sam feels that no other earmuffs could ever take the place of the ones she left in restaurant coat room last month. Tell us about something you recently broke, lost or misplaced.
sniff sniff...my poor Lucy has a rear differential that's going.  Could last a while, could go tomorrow.  That makes me sad.  I'm hoping she can hold on for at least 6 months, and I will trade her in for a newer one.  But dang.  I love that Lucy!  I put all my stickers that I was saving for my "permanent" car on her!

2) When this song was first released back in 1968, the name Susan was very popular. According the Social Security Administration, it was one of the top 10 baby girl names of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Today it's not even in the top 100. Do you know anyone named Susan (or Suzanne)?
I was born in the mid-60's, so go figure - I know a whole bunch of 'em!
3) The Buckinghams were Chicago's attempt to get in on The British Invasion begun by the Beatles. (Hence the silly suits.) But they took their name from Chicago's famous Buckingham Fountain. If Crazy Sam visited your neighborhood, what local site would you recommend she check out?
Huh, never knew that!  And if someone were to come here, if it was a Sunday?  I'd recommend on of these from a place on the lake.  Awesome.  Beyond awesome.  :)
4) Chicago is known for deep dish pizza. Describe your dream pizza. (Calories, carbs and gluten need not be a factor because it's dream pizza!)
My favorite pizza from back home is one from Papa Gino's that they don't make any more.  It was a chicken and *stuff* one - that was tied with the buffalo chicken one they make.  For here in MI?  It's Hungry Howie's - garlic & herb crust.  Chicken, green pepper, pineapple and pepperocinis.  Oh, so good..
5) The Buckinghams got their big break by winning a local "battle of the bands." Do you often go to concerts or bars to listen to live music?
All the time!  I love going out and listening to local bands, great way to get out, meet people and just have an all around fun time.  As for concerts?  Hells yeah.  I take the boy with me too.  He's been to more concerts than I had been at his age by far!
6) The best-selling book in 1968 (the year "Susan" was released) was Airport by Arthur Hailey. It was set during a snowstorm at Lincoln International, a fictional airport based on Chicago's O'Hare. What's the most recent airport you flew to? Why were you there?
Last time I flew?  In and out of AZO - to and from BOS.  Home for my HS reunion.  Now that was fun.
7) Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, Sox ... Chicago is a big sports town. What's your favorite pro team?
RED SOX  always!
8) Thinking of sports, did you watch the Olympics? If yes, which events?
I watched off and on.  I love watching the downhill skiing, the skating - aw heck.  I love it all.  LOL  Is it over yet?  I'd really like to get back to our regularly programmed programs.
9) Do you consider yourself an idealist or a pragmatist?

Pragmatism - a reasonable and logical way of doing things or of thinking about problems that is based on dealing with specific situations instead of on ideas and theories
ide·al·ism -the attitude of a person who believes that it is possible to live according to very high standards of behavior and honesty
OK, I'll admit it - I looked this one up.  I deal much better with a realistic and logical point of view, so I'm going to call myself a pragmatist.

VD is over, dammit. Stop asking me about it!

As Time Goes By

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

 1) This is the theme song of Casablanca, generally acknowledged as one the screen's great love stories. In honor of Valentine's Day weekend, what's your favorite movie romance?

Oh Jesus, Mary and the Carpenter.  I thought we were through with VD?   It's over.  Finit.  Done.

2) Even though he was only 5'8 and had a receding hairline, Humphrey Bogart was a popular leading man. What movie or TV actor or actress makes your heart skip a beat?
I just loved him as Denny Duquette..

3) Sweethearts are those little heart-shaped candies that are printed with messages like, "Be Mine" and "Kiss Me." Do you like how they taste?
Yes, like liquid Pepto Bismol mixed with chalk.  They're nasty.

4) Valentine's Day is a big day for florists. When is the last time a floral arrangement adorned your table or desk?
Ohhhhhhh Feck off, willya?   Oh, wait - I got flowers when I started my job.  And last year when everything was starting to turn green.

5) Do you think an e-card means as much as a conventional card in an envelope?Depends on who it's from or to,  and what the content is.  Let's take, for example, this e-card...

Now that could have the desired effect of basically telling someone to fuck off, correct?

OR... You could have stamps made up of this:

And use them only when you mail something to the person that's in the picture that has nothing to do with the baby on his lap any more.   That's just as an effective "Fuck you" as the e-card, right?

6) Despite what you see on Valentines, the human heart isn't bright red. It's really a brownish shade of red, like a brick. Now it's your turn. Share some trivia that's been rattling around in your head. (It does NOT have to be about Valentines or the human heart. It can be any random fact at all.)

You know, right now?  I got nothing... strange, right?  Me?  Speechless?  Well, not actually speechless, just not a lot of unthunked thoughts today.  This morning.  It's early, I'm still working on my coffee.  LOL

7) When is the last time you thought your heart would break?
The boy made honor roll last trimester, and he is going to again this trimester.  I'm so proud of him I could burst.  And he wrote an essay to get into an EFE program for aviation technology that just about made me shit I was so excited for him.  I really have said "who are you and what have you done to my son"?
As far as "romantic" heartbreak?  Meh...  I'm not going there - it's all over and done with.  But I will tell you - the one thing that upsets me more than anything?  Is when you make my kid cry.

8) What is the most recent thing to lift your heart?

Honor roll, essays, you know - stuff like that.   :) <3 span="">

9) Who is the most "hard hearted" person you know?

Oh just look at that asshole up in #5.  Blech.  He doesn't have one.  I'm not sure he ever did.

Cupid's Questions Meme

from Kodelaine

1.)Do you like Valentine's Day?
You know, Valentines has always been one of those holidays that I think are just awful.  They're like the "mean girls" of made up holidays.  If you have someone - they feel forced to buy you something, otherwise they look like they just don't care.  Same for you.  How could you *not* get them something - it is, after all, Valentine's Day!  Now - for the single person - that EVERYONE knows is single by the end of the day because they haven't gotten anything - you just want to find whoever made it into what it is and just punch them in the throat.  So there.  That's how I feel about VD.  Yeah, I call it VD.

2.)Are you going to celebrate it?
Fuck you

3.)Celebrate Valentine's Day with Friends or someone Special?
Fuck you twice

4.)Pink or red?

Friday was recognize the fact that women get heart disease too, day.  So I'll go with red.  For that.  Not for stupid VD.

5.)Candy Hearts OR cards?
Candy hearts, unless they are chocolate - are useless to me.  They are, if you will, the nastiest little candies around.

6.)A short kiss or a big hug?

I was convinced at one time that the boy's father gave the best hugs.  It was like the whole world went away when he hugged me.  I now realize that it was because he was so much bigger than me that I was actually hidden from the world and not living in reality.  I still like a good hug, but one that is actually a *good* (and real) one - not a "let's pretend we're a real couple and not two people sneaking around" hug.. **Edited to add - if you are ever in a relationship where you have to hide the fact that you're in it?  Not a good idea.  If you have to hide the fact that you're related to someone?  Again, not a good idea.  I am a firm believer in honesty being the best policy.  So let's see if we've gotten the gist of this... Hiding something?  Bad.  Being up front and honest?  Good.  Got that?  Good.

7.)What are your plans for V-day?
I'm going to get up, celebrate the fact that I don't have any kind of genital warts or venereal disease, and treat it like every other Friday. Why would I celebrate that, you ask?  Because could you imagine waking up with either?  THAT would be a shitty day.  So every day that I don't have some kind of nastiness invading my body is a day to celebrate.  :)  You?

8.)What would be the best gift to receive?
oh, fuck you three times

9.)Would get back with any of your ex's for V-day?

10.)Is there a food or beverage you associate with V-day?

breakfast, lunch, dinner?

11.) What are your thoughts on "Love at first sight"?
Secret.... agent man... Secret.... agent man..

12.)Do you think people who have dated can stay friends?
Hmmmm depends - if neither one of them was in love, maybe.  If one was in love and the other wasn't?  It'll always be a one-sided friendship.  Just won't work.

13.) If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice about dating or relationships what would it be?

I answered that ---> HERE

Saturday, February 8, 2014

Yeah, thanks for that. Now I'm all SAD.. Jerk.

Why Don't We Get Drunk?

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1)This week's song was once named the favorite love song of Bud Wiser, the godfather to this humble blog. With Valentine's Day coming up, what's your favorite love song?

Wow, you just hop right into it, don't you.  Why don't you just ask - hey you there, when's the last time you went on a date?  Or got some?  Huh?  Huh?  I can see how this Saturday 9 is going, and I'm going to tell you right now, I will NOT have it.  Do you hear me?  I won't!

2) When this song was first released back in 1973, the "Why don't we get drunk and screw?" refrain was considered shocking. With the explicit sexual content in many of today's songs, it now hardly raises an eyebrow. When is the last time you were shocked? (Not just by a song, by anything at all.)

I was truly shocked this week by the death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman.  What a great great actor, but what a stupid, dumb guy.  To let heroin take over his life like that - what a horrible legacy to leave to his kids.  "Hey - I did all this good, but when it comes down to it?  I was nothing but a drug addict"..  Ugh.

3) Buffett named his first daughter Savannah, presumably after his favorite city. Tell us about your favorite city.I have been so lucky to have traveled to so many different cities.  I love San Francisco.  London.  Ohhhhh all of them in Ireland.  But my favorite outside of my hometown of Boston?  This one...

I only spent 3 days there, but it's one of those places that I'd always wanted to visit, and knew that I'd love.  I know it rains a lot, but if I had to choose somewhere to live other than Boston?  It'd be Seattle.  In a heartbeat.  :)

4) Mr. Buffett opened a Margaritaville Casino in Atlantic City. Have you ever gambled in Atlantic City? What about Las Vegas?
Why yes, yes I have!  Both!  I won a few hundred on the Hot Hot Super Jackpot, too.  We have casinos around here, but I will say the one disappointment is that they don't give free drinks while you're gambling.  I guess only Vegas and AC do that.
Oh, and Atlantic City?  I saw Bruce there.  And he sang that song, too.  So really, I met him that night in Atlantic City.  I stood like 15" away from him too.  Yeah.  ohhhhh Bruce....
5) Saving Florida's manatees is a cause near and dear to Jimmy Buffett's heart. If we were to make a $100 contribution to any charity in your honor, which would you choose?
Something to do with battered women, or single parents.

6) If today was your birthday, your astrological sign would be Aquarius. How often do you check your horoscope?

Hi my name is Kathy, I'm a Scorpio and I enjoy long walks on the beach... oh, wait.  I'm sorry, I must stop and vomit here... LOL  Maybe there's a reason for my answer to #1.  LMAO

7) On this date in 1974, the show Good Times ("Dy-no-mite!") premiered and, much to Sam's confusion and chagrin, still enjoys an audience in syndication. Tell us about a pop culture phenomenon that you just never got into.

Twerking.  Planking.   Really, I follow my own path.  I don't usually follow the "what's cool" rule.

8) Is there a home improvement project on your list of things to do?
Are you serious?  I think anyone that owns their own home has a home improvement project on their list.  Duh.  I want to do over the master bath with a bigger vanity, and if money were no option?  I'd turn my patio into a 3 season porch much like the one that was on the cottage down the Cape.  I miss the cottage.  I miss the Cape.  I miss "home".  Yeah, thanks for that.  Now I'm all SAD..  Jerk.

9) A warm-weather choice to consider on a February day: Ice cream sundae or banana split?

I will take a banana split to drown my sorrows in, thank you. No strawberries or pineapple, though.  Hot fudge.  Marshmallow.  Bananas.  Ice cream.  Nuts.  That's it.  Oh..... now I really REALLY want one..

1.  Put your music player of choice on shuffle and list the first song
Billy Joel - Big Shot.  LOL

2  If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Would you take anyone with you?

ohhhhh good one...  Somewhere very tropical and all inclusive.  I'd probably take Kim because I'm not dating anyone right now and we both need a good vacation.

3  What is your preferred writing implement? (eg. Blue pen, pencil, green pen)Blue or black.  Fine point.  I find myself switching up pens a lot.  Sometimes I like fine point, sometimes I like the medium point.  Sometimes?  I go a little crazy and use a purple pen.  4  When did you go on your first trip alone (without your parents)?First vacation without my parents?  Disney World with my grandmother and cousin.  It was only the 2nd year they were open, I think?  I was 6 or 7.  And they still used tickets for the rides.   I remember walking in, and some people that were leaving gave us their tickets because they weren't going to need them.  AND we did some kind of behind the scenes tour because my grandmother knew someone that worked there.  Here we are, weren't we cute?  LOL  I'm on the left.

5  Do you have connections to any celebrities (even minor)? List them.I do.  But I'm not going to tell you all.  that will ruin the sanctity of our beautiful relationship.  I know people.  They know people.  We all know peeps.  Their peeps are my peeps.  So I have peeps.  No wait - I'll tell you one.  She never reads these.  She doesn't even acknowledge us little peeps any more.  I know Kay Hanley, singer in Boston's own Letters to Cleo that broke up.  Now she does the Care Bears theme song, and toured as a backup singer on tour with Miley Cyrus - when she was still doing Hannah Montana shit.  We all knew here when, and she comes back to Boston from time to time, and gets invited to lots of stuff with the old gang - and can't even be bothered to respond.  So yeah.  I know her.  Pffffffffffffft..
6  Name 3 items you could pick up from where you are.

My most delightful cuppa of Joe.  My wallet.  A blue or black fine point pen.  Oh, and I'd like to point out that since hitting shuffle on iTunes?  I'm now listening to Simon & Garfunkel's "Cecelia"..

7  How would you describe your sense of humor?
Twisted, with a chance of meatballs?  I don't know.  I have a good one, no - strike that - a GREAT sense of humor.  I often laugh in the face of adversity, I downright SHINE in times of trouble, and yeah - I will laugh at inappropriate times.
8   Do you ever play board games or other non-computer games? Got any favorites?
Scrabble.  My ex bf's grandmother used to have Sunday Scrabble.  Show up if you want to play, don't if you don't.  Bring a snack, or not.  Sometimes there would just be a few of us, sometimes we'd have 2-3 games going.  I miss that.
9  A musical artist you love that isn’t well known.
Hmmmmm.... I'm not sure.  I'm friends some but again - see #5.  You probably wouldn't know her unless you're from Boston.
A musical artist you love that is well known.

Yes, he was looking at me.  Yes, he loves me and only me.  LOL  I also touched him on the arm the same night.  What is your desktop background currently?Pretty flowers...
Last person you talked to, and through what you talked to them
My neighbor.  Face to face - but not too close, I haven't brushed my teeth yet.
What do you carry your money in?
My wallet.  It's Stella & Dot.  Very cool.
What timekeeping devices are in the room you are currently in?
Just the computer.  And seriously, who says "timekeeping devices"?  What are you, Captain Nemo or something?
What kind of headphones do you use?
I don't.  This is my house, and I'll play my shit as loud as I want, when I want.
What musical artists have you seen perform live?
Oh Jesus...  I won't tell you how many times for each - but... (obviously) Bruce Springsteen, U2, Journey, Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, Elton John, James Taylor, Bette Midler, Steve Winwood, Dropkick Murphys, Jimmy Buffet; Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, Roseanne Cash, Natalie Merchant, Bruce Hornsby (the last bunch were from an Earth Day festival - not full shows for them), Van Morrison (front row - in Dublin), The Monkees, Rick Springfield, Dave Matthews Band, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw (see his bum, below), Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown Band, Luther Vandross (one of THE most disappointing shows ever - he only sang 2-3 songs?), Anita Baker, Barenaked Ladies... and seriously I can't think of any more.  My brain hurts.  LOL
How often do you clear your browser history?
Only when I want to hide shit.  LOL  Probably never..
What’s the best job you’ve ever had?
I don't know if I have had one yet.  I am presently looking for a job that will make me WANT to get up every morning and go in, and look forward to.  I've had that a couple of times, but not recently, that's for sure.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
It wasn't the worst - but working for my Uncle Jim in his fast food fish shack.  I loved that job, it was awesome - but there's nothing like the smell of fish in your hair, clothes, and just about everything.  Shoes?  Yup.  And washing them did nothing.  So it'd be like I would walk into a room and people would thing "hey!  the tuna boat is in town!"  LOL
What magazines do you read, if any?
HGTV, Ladies Home Journal, Better Homes & Gardens, and I MISS the Martha Stewart cooking one, Everyday Food.  I don't know why they stopped publishing it, but it was hands down THE best food/recipe magazine ever.

Nice to meet you, my name is Bubbles McGee...

1) What would make tonight a good, good night?

It already is going to be a good night! I woke up on the right side of the bed on my own accord, walked downstairs and made myself some coffee.  It's going to be a great day!  Or, like my ex bf's father used to say "it's the best day of my life!".

 2) In the song, he sings that he's got money and wants to "spend it up." How much cash is in your wallet right now?

BAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAH  That's comedy right there.  $1.51.  That's it.

 3) The lyrics include "mazel tov," which means good luck or congratulations. What other Hebrew/Yiddish phrases do you know?

ACCCCCHHHHHHHHH....  with a hand thrown down for extra emphasis.

4) The colorfully named Black Eyed Peas include Fergie (born Stacey Ferguson) and will.i.am (William Adams) and Taboo (Jaime Gomez). If you could choose a stage name, what would it be?

Bubbles McGee.  What?  Don't like that one?  Too bad.  It's my stage name.  MINE.  LOL

5) This song was crazy popular in Canada, debuting at #2 on the charts. Have you ever visited our neighbor to the north?

I have driven through many times on the way to/from New England.  Now I need to either get an enhanced license or passport.  Which reminds me, I need to renew my passport.  Dagnabbit.  I have lots and lots of the $2 coins to spend!

6) When's the last time you laughed really hard?

Oh, gosh - it was something with Kim.  We were both laughing hysterically.  We have a tendency to do that to each other.  And sometimes we will laugh so hard, we'll cry.

7) Who received the last text you sent?

Seriously?  I have to get up.  Get my phone.  ACCCCCHHHHHHHHHH with my hand thrown down for extra emphasis...  Kim.  Of course.

8) Which sounds like more fun -- skiing or skating?

I would love to go skiing.  I don't think my knees could take it though.  And skating, I've done that within the past few years.  That hurt my ankles.  Shit.  I'm getting old.  DAMMIT!!
9) Thinking of sports, are you looking forward to The Super Bowl?

The Super Bowl is dead to me this year.  I really don't care now that my beloved Patriots are out of it.  I'm looking forward to the commercials.  :)

Happy Saturday!
