No matter how bad you think it is?

There is always someone worse off.  I just got this email from my friend Kim, that works at a community center.

"So I just helped this lady with food. She hadn't eaten in two days. She was so weak and shaky... I had to sit her down and give her something to eat so she wouldn't pass out. She lives in that ratty ass motel next door. No oven. No stove. Just a microwave and a hot plate. And no can opener. So then I'm pulling down food and she starts crying.

A year ago she had a house, a job, etc and now this is where she is. Oy vey."

She could only give her so much food, because of no can opener.

How awful :(

Stuff...

You know that whole "God doesn't give you any more than you can handle" bullshit?  I think that somtimes, he might be a bit off.  Really.  Take my sister in law, for example.  She's a good person.  Goes to church every Sunday without fail, has raised two wonderful kids with my brother and is just nice dammit.  She's a nice person.  Always looks at the good in people.  Certainly a lot nicer than me, that's for sure.

Not only does she have handed to her a husband with ALS that is completely dependant on her, her sister (equally as nice, of course) has breast cancer.  And dies two days ago.

Seriously?  What the HELL are you thinking, God? Like she doesn't have ENOUGH???  Not funny...

then you see stupid people that get handed everything, and wonder why?  Really.  Why?  Why them?  Why can't THEY be dealt the shitty hand?

I don't get the universe sometimes.

In other news... Pat Sajak admits to being shitfaced more than once while taping Wheel of Fortune.  Nice...

Random Tuesday thoughts..

Monday is my least favorite day of the week.

I'm working on changing that.  Yay! Monday!!
I realized that I'm sending out at least 1-2 resumes a week.  Wow!
What shocks me is the lack of response from so many people - not even a terse "piss off”
*updated to change that - I got a response from someone this morning.  thanks, but no thanks.  So what if I don't have Real Estate experience?  I can learn!  LOL

Just plugging along here though.  I feel like I'm just stuck in a rut - and can't wait to get out of it and see what else is in store for me.

Not paying my mortgage means that all my other bills are up to date.  What a feeling!  Sad, but true.

Who cares if/why Tim Thomas went to the White House?  Seriously?  WHO CARES??  There are more important things in the world to worry about.

I keep seeing all these things on forgiveness, letting go of the past, blah blah blah......   whatever.  She's still a filthy whore.  LOL  But really - I don't care any more.  I forgive her.  Life goes on, ya know?

I wrote a letter to my son's oldest brother (half-brother, really - but that's just details)... I felt he had a right to know that he had a younger brother.  He's 27 - it's not like he's 12 and I totally blew up his image of his father.  I know he got it because apparently he (meaning the baby-daddy) was furious about it in court.  Whatever - he's had 15 years to tell them - he's obviously not going to - so if anything, he should be mad at himself for being such a jackass.  I think they have a right to know - and to make the decision on their own if they want to know the boy.

I hope they told the rest of them - because it'll get interesting once we move back that way.

anyway - happy Tuesday.. :)

I just can't quit you.....

1. Have you ever still been in a relationship that you knew was ending, but you hung in with it anyway? If yes, why?
oh Whatever.  Fine.  Yesssssss...  My son adored him.  Bad excuse, I know.   The other time?  Because I loved him.  Apparently way more than he loved me.  Or himself.  Whoops.  My bad.   I got pregnant during that time, too.  That really brought out the true him.

2. Tell why people around the world should be completely enthralled by you.
Um, hello - DUH... Because I'm awesome.  And funny.  And a pretty pretty princess.

3. Other than where you live, what's your favorite city and why?
Who ever said where I live is my favorite city?  How about where I'm from (Boston) and my other favorite city is Seattle.  Oh it's just gorgeous there.  And clean.  With the mountains.  And ocean.  And it's pretty.  Did I mention that it's gorgeous there?

4. What is something you are really passionate about?
Wine.  I'm really loving wine these days.  I mean, shit - I'm single.  I can't be passionate about my kid - that'd be just downright creepy.  So I choose wine.  Wine is good - doesn't talk back, doesn't bitch.  And if you have enough - it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

5. What has been your most exciting prize that you've won?
$500 the day before I went on a vacation.  That was pretty cool.

6. Do you think there was there a second gunman behind the grassy knoll?
De Tonndorfer Toorvart is einfach grossartich.  What the hell kind of question is that?

7. What was the silliest, most fun, crazy or impractical gift that you received?
Had I been able to cash them in - my "gift certificates" for my 40th birthday.  I still have them somewhere.  They would have been awesome.  But nooooooooooooo..... we had to break up before I collected.  My bad.  But now I can say he gave me nothing for my 40th, right? LOL

8. What was the most practical gift that you received?
Toaster oven.  I think it was the first time I was out living on my own, and my mother gave it to me for Christmas.  I was so geeked.  I should have known then that my kitchen obsession would never end.

9. What blogger has been in your blogroll the longest? How did you discover them?
Erin.  We met online through a single moms group - holy SHIT it'll be 16 years in April.  Wow.  And she's one of my besties - <3 her!  :)

What I've done so far today....

yep.  tax dollars once again hard at work.

8:15 - I arrive.  Hey, it was snowing, don't give me any shit.

8:30 - I check tray #1 on the copier.  Horrors!  It's empty.  I fill it.  And then check on tray #2.  It's ok.

8:40 - I change the date on the date stamp.

8:41 - ate the rest of my delightful blueberry scone from Panera Bread.  It was free with my points or whatever they do.  Free.  I love free.

8:42 - 9:45 - check Facebook.  Weather.  Road conditions.  Emails.  Tempted to look for jobs, but decide that maybe that wouldn't be right.

9:45 - bring mail over to baskets.  Check for faxes.  There's one.  I paperclip it and put it into the right mail slot.

9:50 - 11:15 - check Facebook.  Weather.  Road conditions.  Emails.  Wonder what was in frozen container that I brought for lunch.  Hope it's something good.

11:20 - open and date stamp mail.  Put into correct mail slots.  Whoops - another fax came in.  Take care of that.

11:55 - OK, I've waited long enough.  What is in this container??   Ooooh roasted butternut squash and chicken soup.  Deeeeeeelightful!    Now I'm on lunch for an hour.  What to do.. what to do...  OK, I'll read my book.

1:00 - interoffice mail has arrived.  Date stamp.  Log into computer.  File in mail slots.  check tray #1 again.  Considering there are only 5 people in here today, there's a lot of paper being used!  Fill it up AGAIN.

1:15 - 2:00...  Check Facebook.  Send a text or two.  check weather.

2:00 - hey!  I can write a blog post about all this!  My exciting life.  At work.

2:07 - make coffee.

Now I think I'll read again.  Maybe check Facebook.  Emails.  Weather.  All that good stuff.

This is my life.  Every.  Day.   And I get paid to do this.  A lot.

Someone shoot me.

Michael Buble's "Home"..  especially when I'm due for a visit

2. Last thing you bought?

Probably Josh.  He's the only one I ever argue with - and he starts it, I swear.

What the hell would possess someone to put butter and peanut butter together?  My father used to eat that, and it was nasty.  Yes.  Nasty.

Paco was my stuffed frog that I kept in my car.  Granted, I wasn't a kid - don't judge.  He was cool.

9. Did you take piano lessons?
Good God no.

11. T.V. show you secretly enjoy?
Tori & Dean.  LOL  I didn't pay my cable bill and that was the only non-commercial channel that we got for like a week.  I was hooked.

12. Would you rather play basketball or hockey?
PLAY??  Are you kidding me?  I'm short.  Basketball is out.  Besides - I played in the CYO league in Jr. High and Marty French was the coach.  His sister (think Coach Beast on Glee) played on the team.  She was mean.  And big.  Never again.  Hockey?  No thanks, I like my teeth.

Sunday Stealings...

An interesting concept.......  I actually had this as a draft from 7/12/09.  Yes.  2009.  LOL  I think because there are so many questions that it was just overwhelming to me.

1. If you could turn back the hands of time to correct one wrongdoing, what event would you choose and why?
Hmmmmmm this one is tough. I think that every experience makes us stronger and shapes who we are, so I'm not sure that I would "correct" anything. If I could maybe change something, it would be convincing my ex-bf to let the FFW live in the empty house. But that would have a domino effect, and change where I am now and I kind of like where I am now. But it would also have changed her outcome, and maybe she'd be back in the trailer park where she belongs.  (*this is actually the only one I answered in 2009, and I think I'll leave it..)

2. Are you one for tradition? If so, what traditions do you strongly believe in? If not, what makes tradition hypocritical?
I love some traditions.  Scratch tickets on Christmas morning in our stockings.  Hanging with my kid on New Year's eve.  I think hypocritical would be going to church on Christmas and no other day - but really, who cares?  WHO CARES.  Does God hear you more if you go to church?  or less if you dont?  To each their own..

3. You were taking part in an event and you had to crossplay, who would you crossplay as and why?
WTF?  Crossplay?  What the hell is that?

4. If you only had one day left to live, how would you spend your last day? Would you be tempted to live fatally if you knew you were to die the next day, and if so, what extreme measures would you take?
Live fatally?  Who the heck thinks this shit up?  I would spend my time with my family and friends.  Have a big old party - because that's how you should go out.  Having fun.

5. What are your top five sinful materialistic items, ones you'd expect from others including those closest to you? Why are each in the position they are in?
Huh?  Sinful?  Seriously?  What am I supposed to answer to that - crack?  I don't have any truly sinful materialistic things.  I do have some materialistic things that I just love though :)
1. My blanket on my bed.  Seriously - have you ever seen this thing?  There's a reason why we refer to it as "the sexy blanket".. the thing is so thick and fluffy it's like having a bear sleep on top of me.  Which, when it's all cold and nasty out - is pretty damn nice.  Not sure about sinful, but it works.
2.   My camera.  love it!  I need to use it more, though.  I haven't had much inspiration lately, though.
3.  My car.  I love the Wasaabi.  Heated leather seats?  The stereo system?  Make me swoon..

4.  My Bose wave radio.  If you have one - you know what I mean.
5.  My kitchen.  Yes, all of it.  LOL  I love to cook.  I love to eat.

6. I am...  stronger than I think sometimes.

7. I feel... tired lately.  It's time for some serious changes.

8. I see... many changes coming down the road.

9. I need... a job.  In Rhode Island.  Or Maine.  Somewhere that I can smell the ocean.

10. I love... the smell of the ocean.  I never realized how much I'd miss it.

11. I wish... my family wasn't so prone to terrible, horrible, fatal sicknesses.  It really sucks.

12. I think... a cure for ALS should be found.  Like... oh.... tomorrow??

13. I hear... dead people?  That Ashton cheated?  That Bieber's balls have dropped?  Really.  I hear lots of stuff - what do you hear?  the ocean when you put your ear up to a big shell?  What a dumb one this is.

14. I crave... Nothing at the moment.  And really, even when I was pregnant I didn't have cravings.  Oh, I know.  I crave peace.  that's it.

15. I fear... dying alone.

16. I hope…that my son will get to know his siblings someday.  It's his right to know them, and theirs to know him.  Just because adults are stupid doesn't mean that the next generation has to be.

Friday Fill ins :)
