Manic Monday

Just another Manic Monday...

What is the most useful gift you’ve ever been given?
Hmmmm..... Probably one of my kitchen gadgets. Or my son. He's a gift. Most of the time. And he's useful when it's boring - he's a great source of amusement. Or sleep disturbances. LOL

Name the most terrifying moment of your life so far.
Having to hand over a hungry, screaming 13 week old to anesthesiologists that were going to take him to have some major surgery done on his little squash. Not knowing if I'd ever see him again. And his squash works and looks just fine now, especially when it is thinking up ways to torture me. LOL

One hot summer afternoon, while walking through a parking lot at a large shopping center, you notice a dog suffering badly from the heat inside a locked car. What would you do?
Call the police. If they didn't get there and the dog passed out, I'd smash the window and hope that Fido is friendly and not all pissed off because I'm encroaching on his territory...

Sometimes I remember them, sometimes I don't. When I'm really stressed I have bad dreams that will wake me up, or I'll just wake up - I have a hard time sleeping when I have a lot going on.

I had a dream last night that I went outside late at night - not sure who I was with, but it was noone of consequence.... but we walked outside and I saw a shooting star. And another. And another. It was a huge meteor shower - and way cool.

Not sure why I had this dream, but I enjoyed it!

Funny stuff...

The most awesome video ever. LOL

And here are a couple of Obama spin offs. Comedy..

This one is better, but just keeps repeating - so stop it when it loops over and over and over...

Close Encounters of the Neil Young kind....

Not sure if anyone outside of my Bruce buddies know this story, but it's pretty funny. A few years ago in Detroit, we spent the night of a concert in the same hotel as Bruce and the gang - on purpose. We had one mission other than the show and that was stalking. Not psycho stalking but hoping to meet the band stalking. We got to meet the guitar player from REM (I have a picture of it somewhere), but before the show our stalking was pretty much a bust. We flew back at the end of the show - an amazing show by the way - REM and Bruce. Stipe watched the Bruce portion of the show from less than 5 feet in front of me, and watching him dance and show Bruce some serious man love was almost as good as seeing Bruce. Anywhooo. We flew back at the end of the show, and as we were outside a tour bus pulled in. Outside a few of us, Cliffy the lone Canadian included, tried to see who was inside. The desk clerk came out after a bit and asked us if we were waiting for Nils (or so we thought) and we heartily said yes, we can't wait to meet him. He gave us a talking to about how we could say hello, but then once inside had to basically ignore him because once he was through his doors would be like us disturbing him in his living room. We all kind of looked at each other and said "OK"... Thinking that from what we've heard, Nils is a pretty laid back guy, but hey we'll go with it.
So Cliffy, Cecelia and I wait. And we see this old guy coming off the bus, holding some baked goods covered in blue saran wrap. We were more concerned with the what was under the saran wrap than the guy, because of course - it wasn't Nils that we could see. He got off the bus and stood in front of us, waiting. We were like HUH? It was Neil Young. Cliffy, being the good Canadian, had him sign his Maple Leafs shirt that he happened to be wearing. He (Neil) then looks at me, and I really don't want his autograph and while it's cool that it's Neil Young, it's NOT Nils Lofgren like I was expecting. I just raise my hand, give a little wave and say "Hi". I think Neil was a bit disappointed that I wasn't gushing over him. LOL

And that, dear people, was my close encounter of the Neil variety.

Manic Monday

Just another Manic Monday :)

Pick out the most important item you have in your purse/wallet and tell me why it's important to you.
Probably the cash, everything else is replaceable. I had some pictures in my wallet that got stolen, and have learned not to keep that stuff in there.

What would you take from your house if you knew it would be flooded tomorrow?
Can we fill up at least a good-sized box? lol My camera, computer, TV (it's a kick-ass 42" LCD), and box of important papers that I have all together.

If you were stuck in a room for an hour with a chalk board, what would you draw on it?
flowers, hearts and whatever else happened to tickle my fancy at the moment.

Happy Monday!

I no longer have a child - apparently he's turned into "frog zombie"... he's pretty funny this morning. Just announced that he put the "WOW" in "chihuahua" LOL

Sunday round up

So the house is done. As in completed. Holy shit, you say? Yeah - me too. All that's left now is touch-ups, inspections and clean up. I should know my closing date this week - but I've taken a leap of faith and called the movers for the 11th of October. I did the address change at the post office for 10/10. Too bad it's not 2010. LOL That would be cool.

I'm taking an accounting class online and it's kicking my butt. I don't know if it's because I over think it, or what - but I just can't wrap my mind around it - it's so hard. I think online is not the medium to take this class, but right now I don't have much of a choice. I've actually approached someone about tutoring me, or even worse, taking the class for me and I'll pay them. I can't believe that I've even thought of that, but that's how much I *don't* get it. The only reason I'm taking the class is for my degree - not for any planned future accounting usage in my life. I actually packed all day yesterday rather than do my homework. I hate packing. LOL

So this week I found out the FFW (aka the filthy fucking whore) is now engaged. To the boyfriend that she moved into the house that she lives in rent-free. Which in turn makes the fuckwit now supporting him, too. How stupid can he get?? I don't care about the fuckwit at all - but I hate her. I hate what she did to my kid without a second thought. I hate that she was the catalyst that ended my relationship (even though it was OK that the relationship ended, it should have been on my terms, not HERS). I hate that she was my friend and used me to get where she is. I love that while she's still sucking off a fuckwit millionaire that doesn't know any better and continues to make excuses for why he supports her, I've done what I've always done - survived and turned it around. I have a brand new house that is completed - that *I* will be paying for. I don't rely on anyone else for my well being. I support myself and my kid. I hate that she still lives in this town. I hate that he's gotten most of his family to think that I was the bad guy by lying to them to justify his actions. Is it a bad thing that I expend the energy to still hate her? Does it mean that I really haven't moved on? I want to see her brought down, is that a bad thing? I've filed a welfare fraud complaint against her. I'm sure she's still on it. He testified in court that she was his employee. Is it a bad thing that I want to turn her into the IRS for not claiming the equivalent of what he's given her as taxable income? At some point, I know I need to let it go - but seriously - I don't know if that's going to happen as long as she is living here rent-free.

Anyway. Happy Sunday. I'm off to read chapter 4 of Fundamentals of Accounting. Not sure how much good it'll do seeing as how I don't understand chapters 1-3, but I'm going to give it a shot. LOL

Friday Fill-Ins

Friday fun time! we go!

1. There is no need for me to pay any more rent!!

2. Where in the heck did the time go? It seems like just yesterday that the surly almost 12 year old was thinking I was the greatest thing. sigh.

3. This survey is all I managed to do this afternoon.

4. Prospects for sex any time soon are pretty slim.

5. I'm not really sure what is the message or lesson I'm supposed to have learned with the events of the past year.

6. Simplicity and tranquility are beautiful things.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to SLEEP, tomorrow my plans include packing, packing and MORE packing and Sunday, I want to get some accounting homework done!

Speaking of Trader Joe's

Does anyone else know some people that could use some of this?

And I mean this is so many different ways... LOL

Tagged! Who? Me?

OK, so my friend Erin tagged me for a Meme(never heard that expression before, btw) and so I must comply... I just don't have anyone else to tag. Does that mean it ends here? I hope not!

1. Where were you 10 years ago?
Wow. 10 years ago. I was living in Braintree in a small but great studio apartment and going out with Tim - he of "let me show you my penis on the internet" fame. Josh was almost two and cute as all heck. I was working at New England Medical Center, doing my job and someone else's - it was a thankless position. I probably weighed 20 lbs less LOL. It was a crazy time. How do I remember all this, you ask? Because it was 10 years ago in November that my mother died, and I was able to take her to her chemo appointments - ok, so even though I wasn't thanked, I was allowed some leeway where my mother was concerned. Wow. I can't believe it's been 10 years.

2. Whats on your to-do list today?
FINE. I'll work on the stupid accounting homework. FINE. Jeez. Leave me alone about it, willya? LOL

3. What if you were a Billionaire?
I would invest enough into trusts so that any future generations would be taken care of, make my friends & family's lives all much easier, buy a house by the ocean in a great school system and live there :), go on a kick ass vacation or twelve, and do something for homeless and/or unwanted kids. Give them hope and a future.

4. Name 5 places that you have lived?
LOL 5 is easy.
South Weymouth, MA
South Boston, MA
Abington, MA
Portage, MI
Richland, MI

5. What are 3 bad habits that you have?
Oy vey. I smoke, I swear and should cook and make my kid eat healthier food. But he refuses to eat it, so I usually cave.

6. What kind of snack do I like?
Chips and pineapple salsa. From Trader Joes. It's the bestest. Or any kind of carb. I'll admit it, I'm a carb addict.

7. Who will you tag next?
I got nothing. Erin's the only one I know that reads here, other than Creepy every once in a while and she's the one that tagged Erin. Any mysterious readers up for the challenge???

Maybe it's just me. Maybe not.

But if you are told "get out or you may DIE" wouldn't that mean that you should get the fuck out???

Hurricane Ike. We've all been watching. We've all seen the pictures of what it looked like over the ocean, what it was projected to do once it landed. Projections weren't good. Pretty bad, in fact. There was one story of a couple that refused to leave, so they were asked to write their names and SS #'s on their arms "just in case". They changed their minds and left.

Now. One of the first things I heard this morning was how many frantic phone calls there were from people that refused to leave and are now looking for help. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THEM???? They expect other people NOW to risk their lives to come save their stupid dumb asses that refused to leave - even when they were told that they should get out or die???

Here's a quote ""What's really frustrating is that we can't get to them," Galveston police officer Tommie Mafrei said. "It's jeopardizing our safety when we try to tell them eight hours before to leave. They are naive about it, thinking it's not going to be that bad."
Is it just me???

Saturday Silliness - 10 great "getting to know you" questions..

10. Share one food item that best describes the last year of your life.
Jello. Looks stable but can be a bit shaky at times. And there's always room for it!!

9. What one item in the kitchen best describes you and your personality?
My kitchen aid mixer. I can do just about anything, and can still look good sitting silent on the counter.

8. What’s your favorite concert you’ve ever attended?
9/18/03 - Springsteen show in Hartford. It was Josh's first show and Bruce sang to him all night. What a great experience to share with my favorite kid!!

7. What cartoon character best describes you?
T I double G RRRRRRRRRR!! Always cheerful :)

6. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
Seattle. I think it would be a beautiful place to live, it's one of my favorite to visit! Seriously.

5. Complete the statement “I recommend…” (it can be a show, movie, book, restaurant, website, activity, etc.)
I recommend never allowing yourself to be dependent on anyone for your way of life, always have a plan "B" and be able to balance your checkbook without help. :)

4. If you knew could you try anything and not fail (and money was no object), what dream would you attempt?
Law school :)

3. What super-power would you most like to have, and why?
I wouldn't want to see the future, that'd be too weird, plus I'd tell everyone what they were going to do. Being invisible would be WAY cool - there are so many times I'd love to be a fly on the wall, so I guess I'd pick that!

2. If you had $5 million to spend in 5 days, but couldn’t spend any of it on yourself or your family, what would you do with it?
Give it all away - find different kid's organizations that need it, and give it to them. Buy my brother a bigger house. Buy my sister a condo in the city.

1. “2 Truths And a Lie” – Share 3 unique things about yourself and your life, 2 of them true, 1 false, and let the group guess which one isn’t true.
I'm a great cook
I still wonder what happened to Al McIntyre, the guy that got away (when I was 20 and stupid)
I'm having a wild affair with the secret service guy from the Obama Rally last weekend. Wouldn't you?

Friday Fill-Ins

"This week I'm going to use rather obscure song lyrics; you can fill them in with the correct words if you know 'em...but wouldn't it be more fun to do it a bit differently?" we go!

1. If I was to walk into your life, your life would improve greatly :)

2. Catch a bright star and place it in your pocket.

3. And you can send me to the moon, Alice, to the moon!

4. Sometimes the thought train derails, but I'm dealing with a memory that never forgets.

5. I'm the innocent bystander / Somehow I got stuck in someone's nightmare!! LOL

6. What's keeping us apart isn't selfishness, it's the fact that you're a fuckwit.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to Friday relaxation, tomorrow my plans include meeting with the mortgage broker and Sunday, I want to enjoy the day!

Manic Monday

Manic Monday

If you were to name the one thing you have the most compassion for, what would it be?
Kids. They get the short end of the stick so many times, it's not funny. I want to do something with my life that helps kids get into better situations. And peeps in general. I think that everyone deserves a break, and if I can somehow help someone catch one, that's a good thing. :)

It's been said that, "The best things in life are free." Do you think this is true?
Well, if my name were Jocelyn I guess this would be true! LOL
No, seriously - I agree. The best things in life are family and friends - and you don't pay anything for them. Unless, of course, well - you know. Your name is Theo and you pay for friendship. Nobody should have to do that.

What is the most valuable thing you own?
Like as in "hold it in your hand" own? Probably my camera is the single most valuable thing. But as in an all encompassing "own" thing - freedom. So many people take the freedom and liberties they have for granted, and there are so many others that don't have the freedoms that we as Americans have.
