Moral of the story? Don't cut corners.

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: All Night Long (All Night)
(because Lia asked for an 80s song)

If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.

1) This music video was produced by Mike Nesmith of The Monkees. Can you name a Monkees song?

Oh, I can name MANY of them!  I'm a Believer... Last Train to Clarksville. the theme to their show..  shall I go on?

2) The song includes the foreign sounding phrases, "Oh jambali Tom bo li d, say de moi ya," and "Oh, Jambo Jumbo!" Mr. Richie meant to include language indigenous to the Caribbean, but was writing the song under deadline and simply made those phrases up instead. Tell about the most recent time you cheated or "cut corners."
Really?  I try not to do that.  I live in a house where corners were cut, and it shows.  If I cut corners at work?  It shows.  If I cut corners with my kid?  It shows.  Moral of the story?  Don't cut corners.

3) Richie was a frat boy at college. Kappa Kappa Psi, to be exact. Were you a member of a fraternity or sorority?

You really shouldn't say "frat"...  Would you call your country a "count"?  I was a member of the GDI's.  The Goddamn Independents.  LOL

4) When this song topped the charts (September 1983), Vanessa Williams became the first African American to be crowned as Miss America. Do you watch beauty pageants?

I used to, when I was young and had aspirations of being Miss America, but that was before I realized you had to have a talent, be skinny and able to wear a bikini.  Once I realized that - that shit was all over..

5) Since it's Labor Day weekend, that holiday established to

celebrate the American worker, let's talk about the workplace. Tellers work in a bank, actors work on a stage or a set, auto workers work on an assembly line. How would you describe your workplace?
I work in a cubicle farm.

6) An estimated 40% of us have dated a coworker. Have you ever had an office romance?

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAHA.... yeah.  Don't try that shit.  It doesn't work.

7) Labor Day is a big weekend for travel. How did you book your last vacation? (Online, through a travel agent, over the phone ...)
Does anyone use travel agents any more?  I found the cottage on homeaway.com (highly recommend it by the way).. then took it from there!

8) Mother Winters won't wear white again now until next Memorial Day. Sam thinks that's just crazy. Where do you fall in this heated mother/daughter debate?
I think that is just craziness... But in Mother Winter's defense, I do have a pair of "winter white" pants.

9) When you look at back on Summer 2014, what will you remember?
How much FUN it was.  This has been one of the busiest summers I've had in forever.  Having a house full of kids (kids - to me) was a highlight.  I always said I'd have had 10 kids if given the chance.  Now, I get to do that - just during the summer.  I was the host family coordinator for the local college level baseball team - and found housing for 50 something kids (not all at the same time, thank God!!) - and really just enjoyed the heck out of it.  I had some stay with me as well, and it was just FUN.  And the fact that some of these kids may go on to play in the major leagues?  Just a bonus.  :)

Happy Saturday!

We rented a beach house the week of my daughter's wedding in Santa Barbara from Homeaway. It sure made a great home away to host different wedding week activities from doing our own flowers to hosting a wedding brunch the day after and was economical in the long run. We couldn't have done it out of a hotel room.
