Margaritaville
Saturday 9: Margaritaville (1977)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song Jimmy sings of "booze in the blender." What do you prepare in your blender?
Duh... BOOZE..
2) As the song opens, Jimmy is sitting on his front porch swing. Describe the front porch of the building you're in right now.

I don't have one. My house is on a slab, so I just have a step up into the house.
3) Jimmy sings of being able to smell boiling shrimp. Do you prefer your shrimp boiled, glazed or breaded?

Glazed? That's weird. Why would you glaze shrimp? I like a good old down home crawfish boil - my friend Kim does the best, all sorts of hot stuff and everything - and the shrimp - mmmmmmm mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm! Here. Look for yourself:
4) During the song, he mentions his flip flops. Have you put your flip flops and sandals away till spring? Or is it still warm enough to wear them?
Wearing them right now! Not sure how much longer, but they're a good substitute in the house for slippers LOL
5) Jimmy Buffett had hoped this song would be recorded by Elvis Presley, but The King died before he could perform it. What's the first Elvis song that comes to mind?

"In the Ghetto"... LOL Especially talking about Jimmy Buffet. The last show I went to was in Chicago, and we stayed at this crack hotel - there was blood on the walls in the bathroom, no hair driers, drug deals out in the back (pimp daddy was driving a Rolls, too) - just nasty. And every time we got into the car - I played that song. LOL
6) Buffett fans are known as Parrotheads. Concert attire for a well-dressed Parrothead often includes a Hawaiian shirt and a foam fin hat. What will you be wearing tonight?

I don't know what I'm doing tonight, but I could find a Parrothead outfit if I needed one.
7) Loyal Parrotheads paid between $500 and $5000 to see Mr. Buffet at a fundraiser for Barack Obama's 2012 Presidential campaign. What's the most you would pay for a concert ticket?
Depends on who it is. Where they're at. I've paid a hundred bucks or so? Not much more than that.
8) Jimmy is an outspoken environmentalist and supports causes like ocean conservation, saving the manatees and expanding the Dallas Zoo. What steps do you take to help save the planet?
I turn in my cans for .10 each.
9) Uh-oh. When Jimmy and the Coral Reefers played in Wisconsin this past August, more than two dozen concertgoers got tickets for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Do you believe pot should be legalized?
Oh Jesus... according to the kids in the neighborhood it should be, but seeing as how it makes them stupid beyond belief sometimes? i think not..

Ooooh, honey glazed shrimp is gooood. Especially on a bed of fried rice. (Maybe I'll pick up some Chinese food tonight.)
Pot is a tough one, isn't it? I just don't know that legalizing it will help anything.
My house is on a slab, too, but we have this little porch overhang. It gets the direct evening sun and so we don't use it much.
I'm with The Gal, pot is a tricky issue.
We put in a long sort of porch when we remodelled and just got it to stop leaking a couple of years ago. lol It's nice to decorate during hols.
Pot is tricky. I'd like the death dealers- from drug cartels to the CIA- out of Pot, which, I might add, can be grown in a backyard in California. You just may not sell it, and rightly so.
We use to turn cans in to raise money for my daughter's color guard team.
