The One Thing Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. We also provide a link to the victim's meme in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from this new meme or recently asked questions from a previously featured meme.
Cheers to all of us thieves!!!

The One Thing Meme
Stolen from: Survey Haven
One Thing .....

 that makes you smile:

My kid.  He seriously keeps me in stitches.
that makes you cry:

Lassie coming over that hill,  gets me every time.

that you love to do on the weekends:
Sleep in.

that you do for only yourself:

Isn't that a little personal?  Really?  Who comes up with these?  Or wait - is it just my dirty mind.

that you have in your underwear drawer that's NOT underwear: I'm realizing now the path that this could take, but that I am certainly not going to let it.  LMAO.  To that end - there is nothing in my underwear drawer that isn't underwear.  Maybe a rogue thong that I haven't thrown out yet (not a fan of the butt floss) lol

that you do before going to sleep: Really??  Read.  Play a game of candy crush.  Then the last thing?  I close my eyes..,

that you do within the first 15 minutes after waking:

check the time.  Get up.

that's in your purse: I see what happened here.  A couple of questions were all squished together.

So.  In my purse?  My wallet.  Not much right now, actually..
that you actually LIKE to clean:

My kitchen.  I love it when it's all clean and everything is in it's place.

that you DETEST cleaning:
When I was a kid, vacuuming the stairs was my job.  I hated it then, I hate it now.  So for anyone that comes over?  Sorry about the stairs - I meant to get to them.  Next time.  LOL

that other people would find odd about you:

I dunno.  Maybe if you tried to figure out what WASN'T odd about me you'd have better odds?  LOL

that you would buy if I handed you a $100 bill:

Right now?  It'd go toward the casino trip I'm going on Tuesday.  With a bunch of old people.  Who, apparently want to teach us how to play craps.  LOL

that you feel you HAVE to do before you die:

Mysterious Ways

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Mysterious Ways (1991)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In honor of St. Patrick's Day (this coming Tuesday), we're featuring one of Ireland's most successful exports, U2. What else is Ireland famous for?Leprechauns, padadas, Waterford crystal, Beleek china and of course, da Guinness!  :)
2) The Dublin studio where U2 recorded this song (and all of Achtung, Baby) is now a music store called Claddagh Records. U2 pilgrims from all over the world travel to the spot (Celia Street, Dublin 2). If we were to visit your neighborhood, are there any landmarks you could direct us to?LOL funny thing.  I'm the only one in the neighborhood with a rock out front.
3) Lead singer Bono is rarely seen without his trademark sunglasses because he suffers from glaucoma. How is your vision? 20/20?
Awwww helllllls no!  I'm blind as a bat without my glasses..

4) Bono and wife Alison were married in 1982 and are still together today. Who is the longest-married couple you know?
Country Dew and her hubby :)
5) When Bono inducted Frank Sinatra into the Grammy Hall of Fame, he applauded the older man's "swagger." Do you think you have swagger?Do I have swagger?  Silly munchkin.  Of COURSE I have swagger!
6) Bono has been honored by world leaders, including President Obama and Nelson Mandela and the Pope, for his philanthropy. Here's your turn to brag: tell us something you have received praise for recently. My swagger..
7) Clearly Bono is the most famous member of U2. Who else is in the band?
The Edge.  Something that I live on every day. LOL

8) On St. Patrick's Day, will you wear green?
I'm Irish.  And Catholic.  Does a bear shit in the woods?
9) Will you enjoy a glass of green beer or maybe a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's?
Shamrock shakes are delightful.  Delicious.  Delovely.  But oh my goodness they are full of bad stuff.  Unlike beer.  Beer is way better for you.  It's got hops.  Barley.  Water.  Wheat.  Beer is food...

Don't ever use the words "leather" and "slacks" in the same sentence.

Here I Go Again

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Here I Go Again (1982)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song originally appeared on Whitesnake's Saints and Sinners album. Are you feeling more saintly or sinful this morning?Neither.  I'm not above anyone so much to ever be considered saintly, and my sins are out there for all to see.  LOL  I feel like me.

2) Whitesnake was formed by Brit David Coverdale, who now lives in Lake Tahoe, NV. Have you ever wanted to relocate to another country? In high school, I had the opportunity to apply to the Goethe Institute in Germany.  I kept putting it off and putting it off, because I just had a feeling that if I ever moved there - I'd never come home.

But now?  Meh...

3) In the song, Coverdale says he "was born to walk alone." Do you enjoy time on your own? Or do you quickly get bored or lonely?I really enjoy my "alone time".  In fact, I'm having some right now!  I love getting up early in the morning and having my coffee and having it just be me and the world..

4) During the band's 1980s heyday, Coverdale was known for his skintight leather pants. Do you own leather pants or slacks?

NO.  And just an FYI?  Don't ever use the words "leather" and "slacks" in the same sentence.

5) What about snakeskin?

Double no.  Ew.

6) It's estimated that 20,000 people die of snake bite every year. Approximately 1,000 suffer fatal spider bites. Less than 50 are killed each year by sharks. Considering sharks, spiders and snakes, which do you find scariest?

Spiders freak me the eff out.  I know - KNOW I tell you - that if there is one in my bedroom and I go to sleep, it's going to drop down from the ceiling, lay eggs on my face and when I wake up I'm going to scratch my face and thousands of baby spiders are going to scatter.  All.  Over.  My... BED.

7) In 1982, when this song was popular, the world lost Princess Grace of Monaco. Before she became a royal, she was film star Grace Kelly. Have you ever seen a Grace Kelly movie?

I'm sure, I just never kept track.  Should I have?

8) Speaking of movies, the top-grossing film of 1982 was ET: The Extra Terrestrial. Have you seen it?

Pshhhhhhhhh... of course.  AND I've been on the ride.

9) Random question: How many timepieces will you have to reset when we spring ahead this weekend?

4, I think?  I don't wear a watch.  So stove, microwave, clock on the wall, and my radio.  I think that's it.

Are you a jealous person?
Depends, you trying to take something that belongs to me?  And really - if it's about a man?  If he wants you, you can have him.  Ain't nobody got time for that foolishness.

When is the next time you’re traveling out of state?
I'm not sure.  It doesn't take much, though - 45 minutes, give or take.
Can you write your name in a foreign language?
Yeah.  I'm Lathakina, the Hawaiian Princess.

When you’re getting ready for something, do you listen to music?
What am I getting ready for?  A funeral?  Probably no.  A night out with the girls?  Prolly.

What is your favorite day of the week?
The ones ending in Y that I wake up and put two feet on the ground.  I'm simple like that.  :)
What is something you did yesterday and wish you could’ve done today?
Considering I've been down and out with a nasty, nasty cold - I didn't do much yesterday.  Planning on doing the same thing today, too.

If you woke up tomorrow and knew/spoke a different language, which language would you want it to be?
The Queen's English.  LOL

What did you last order online?
some Tastefully Simple stuff for my neighbor :)

Do you have any specific hobbies? I can tell you I don't have hobbies. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my child go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
What’s a song you recently discovered that you want to tell everyone about?
I heart Bruno Mars lately, in my eyes - he can do no wrong.  I just think he is the best all around performer out there right now - and damn that boy has talent, he's not synthesized or any of that crap.
Favorite fall or winter accessory?

Love love love my UGGs.  I actually used to have 2 pair, and a dog ate one of them.  I got them years and years ago (when I was rich, sigh... I miss when I was rich..)  Oh.  I digress.  They are probably 10 years old, and now need to be replaced - but for those that complain about the price - mine have lasted 10 years and I am ROUGH on boots.  So for the price - they're worth it.
  What did you last eat?
I made a chicken coconut curry thing in the crockpot last night.  I'm not a huge fan of chicken going in raw - it comes out mushy.  Still good, though.  :)

Look to your left. What’s there?
My kitchen.

How long does it take you to fall asleep?
Depends. I'm usually asleep within 1/2 hour of my head hitting the pillow.

Is there a TV in the room you are in?
Nope.  I'm not a huge fan of TV's in every room.  I have one in my living room, and one in my bedroom.  The ONLY reason there is one in my bedroom is if I'm sick, Josh is sick, or I have a friend's kid over - there is somewhere other than the living room to watch something different.  I made the mistake of getting a TV in the boy's room once.  That didn't last long.  LOL

What comes to your mind when I say red?
My aunt Maggie.  She had great red hair.  And a personality to match!

Name something you think is pointless?
Poking the beasts.  LOL  But it's so much fun sometimes!

You wish you had a grandma like mine!

Freeway of Love

Saturday 9: Freeway of Love (1985)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Aretha's ideal car is a pink Caddy. What's your dream vehicle?

Meet Lucy 2.0.  Lucy 1.0 was traded in for her.  Here's Lucy 1.0, which will answer question #2 quite nicely I think :)

2) Have you ever owned a convertible?Have you never heard of a JEEP?  See #1 :)

3) Aretha longs to "drop the pedal and go." Are you a careful, conservative driver? Or do you enjoy going fast? Look, I'm a good driver.  I haven't killed you, have I?

4) Aretha's grandmother Rachel helped raise her. Tell us about one of your grandparents. My mother's mother, AKA GG, Margie (and that's a hard G there, not a soft one)... believed that women shouldn't drink beer out of a bottle, chew gum or call boys.  She was one of the most kick ASS people I've ever known, and I hope I can grow up to be just.  Like.  Her.  White water rafting in her 60's, winning a beer chugging contest, traveling all over the world.  You wish you had a grandma like mine.  And when she was diagnosed with cancer, she said - I'm going on a cruise, I'll talk to you when I get back (not exactly, but you get the point), and came back, was admitted to the hospital and died with a killer tan.  And nails.  I did her nails, she couldn't go to the Pearly Gates with ratty looking nails!

5) Aretha played a waitress in the 1980 movie, The Blues Brothers. Have you ever worked in food service?Of course!  My first job was in the dietary department at So Shore Hospital, and at some point along the line, I worked as a waitress..

6) Aretha was a chain smoker for decades and had a terrible time giving up cigarettes. What habit do you wish you could break?Same as Aretha's.  But I'm not a chain smoker.

7) A sculpture of Aretha is at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in New York City. What's the last museum you visited?Oh my, I don't know!  I was talking this week about having tea once in the London Museum.  That was lovely.  :)

8) Since Aretha has many honorary degrees, it would be appropriate to refer to her as Dr. Franklin. Who is the last person you addressed by his or her title (Officer, Father, Pastor, Dr., etc.)?I'm not as think as you drunk I am, Occifer...  Oh.  Wait.  Wrong movie.  LOL  People are so casual these days, I really can't remember!

9) The daughter of a minister, Aretha enjoys singing "church music" and her 1972 CD Amazing Grace is one of the best sellers in gospel music history. Do you have any gospel music on your phone, iPod or MP3 player?

I have this.  It's one of my favorites (enjoy) :)

Love Is In The Air Meme
Stolen from: The Archives

Love, to you.  It's a feeling, when that person walks into the room - and all of a sudden you're the only two there.
Define love in your own words.
The ability to live without the other person, but the desire not to.  Work.  Not all fun & games, truth, honesty - and most of all?  Trust.
What do you want in a relationship?
See previous answer
What do you contribute to a relationship
See previous previous answer.  And right now?  Nothing.  I'm single, and really am OK with that.  I refuse to settle for someone just to have someone there, and there are things I just won't compromise on.  I will never again stay in a relationship where I'm the (by FAR) smarter person, where it's not a partnership - it's almost like a parent-child relationship, where I'm not a priority - or playing second fiddle.  Kids should be #1, that's a given.  But if you're stringing a few women along?  Count me out.  Some day I'll make some guy very happy - but for now?  I'm happy all by myself.

Currently.....
Do you have a Valentine?
What?  Did you not listen to my last answers?
If not, are you happy being single?
I know you're mad, Jake, but you got to get your own... I know you're mad Jake..
Describe the perfect V-day date in your opinion:
I had a great time last night at the neighbors.  We played Apples to Apples, and then Dance-Dance revolution.  I realized that, while I have lost a lot of weight - it's too soon for the form fitting tank top.
Dream Date?

 What is your crush's name?
Mr. Secret Service for Obama before he was POTUS man.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
did you NOT look at that picture?  I love him.  He loves me.  End of story.

This or that
Chocolates or Flowers....you must pick one!
Chocolates are better, flowers are overpriced!
A short kiss or a big hug?
There has been one person that when I hugged him, the whole world went away.  Too bad he turned out to be such an asshat.  But a hug like that?  Any time.  (just not from him.  LOL)
Cute and dimwitted, or Average and brilliant?
Average and brilliant - I need someone to challenge me.
  Miscellaneous
Turn-ons?
secret ear-buds
Turn-offs?
Living with mom, or lack of a spine.

What thing should a guy never say to you?
Come here and look at this before I flush it..

How do you feel about kissing on the first date?

Depends on the first date.  :)

Sorry for the coffee on your monitors with that answer.  You know the one.  LMAO

I should have kept my tuckie. Not given it to the Indians.

Saturday 9: All Dressed in Love (2008)
For Valentine's Day, we need a happy love song. Hear it here.
1) In this song, Jennifer sings, "I look good in love …" What about you? When you're happy, or sad, does it show? Or do you keep an even demeanor, no matter what? I like to think I have a good poker face, but I probably don't.  And when I'm disgusted with someone/something, I apparently just really let it show. LOL  When I'm happy, though - I'm happy!
2) This song played over the closing credits of a hit movie, Sex and the City. When you go to the movies, do you visit the concession stand for popcorn, or a soft drink, or candy?
Popcorn... mmmmmmmm no buttah.  Diet.  Free refills.
3) Think of the last movie you watched at home. Was it a DVD, DVR, streamed or cable presentation?
Oh jeez, I don't know!  Prolly on cable.
4) Jennifer Hudson got good grades in high school and went away to Langston University in Oklahoma. But she was homesick for her family in Chicago and came home after just one semester. Have you ever been homesick?
I live in the Midwest.  I'm from the Northeast.  Every day I'm homesick.  But every day I'm glad I made the move I did - I have a happy, drug and alcohol free kid that gives me no trouble (well, for the most part).  He's grown up with ME around.  He wouldn't have had that in the Northeast.  Plus it was easier to explain that "your father lives back East" as opposed to "I'm sorry he's an asshole"
5) Jennifer received acclaim for her renditions of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the 2008 Democratic Convention and Super Bowl XLIII. Do you agree with critics who say that our National Anthem is hard to sing?
I sing it great in the shower, not sure what their problems are.  Just millions of people watching, you know - stuff like that..
6) Jennifer is a spokesperson for Weight Watchers and, with diet and exercise, went from a size 18 to a size 6. She says that while she's committed to healthy eating, she still enjoys ice cream occasionally. Do you prefer your ice cream in a cone or a cup?I prefer it in my mouth.  The cone or cup is just a way to get it there..
7) Her fiance, Daniel Otunga, is a graduate of Harvard Law School. Harvard is the most famous of the eight "Ivy League" schools. Do you know the other seven?
Sure.  Do you?
8) With a Grammy and an Oscar, Jennifer Hudson is one of the most successful American Idol contestants. Can you name another singer who appeared on AI
Taylor Hicks.  Whatever happened to him?

9) Last year, Jennifer nearly bought a brand-new Ferrari because it was so great looking. At the last moment she backed out of the deal because she doesn't drive enough to warrant such an expensive car. What's the last impulse purchase you either made, or resisted?
It wasn't really a purchase as much as a donation.  I should have kept my tuckie.  Not given it to the Indians.

Easy A-Z Meme
Stolen from: FYeah Surveys
A. What are your favorite smells?
The desert after it rains, a baby just out of the bath, the ocean
B. Can you go a whole day without caffeine?
I could - the real question is - do you WANT me to?  Because that wouldn't be pretty.  Just saying..
C. Who knows more about you than anyone else?
Um, that would imply that someone knows more about me than ME.  That ain't happenin'....
D. What song did you last listen to?
OMG, I know it's overplayed already, but oh my goodness does it get me up and moving..

 E. Do you wear socks to bed?
Maaaaaybe if I'm sick, but that's one of those things that if it's off, will keep me awake.
F. Can you change a car tire?
I CAN.  But would I?  Prolly not.
G. If you could choose one color to wear for a whole year, what color would you choose?
Well, it wouldn't be white.  That's for sure.  Can't wear that Memorial Day to Labor Day.  Unless it's winter white, which my friend Carrie doesn't believe in.  So maybe pink.  But then would I have to wear pink pants?  Because those would be silly.  Especially if they had flamingos on them - the flamingos would get lost.  Maybe I'd go with blue.  There are lots of different shades, and nobody says you have to stick with one shade.  Right?
H. Do you cook often?
Mmmmmmm fooooooooooooooood.  Yum.   Of course I do.
I. What’s your least favorite season? I'm from New England.  I love 'em all.
J. Can you sew?
After 4 years in Home Ec class, I would hope so!  I even have my own sewing machine!
K. What is your favorite fruit?

L. Are you health conscious?
Much more so than I was 10-15-20 years ago.  I want to live.  LIVE!  LIVE!  The women in my family have a tendency (other than my grandmother) to not live much past 50.  I'm turning 50 this year.  I'd like to be the one that takes after my grandmother.
M. Do you think you’re very conscious of the feelings of others or more self oriented?
I try and do both, believe it or not

N. Do you curse a lot?
Oh fuck, no
O. Do you remember lyrics easily?
Up town funk you up, uptown funk you up.  Up town funk you up.  Uptown funk you up...
P. Can you roll your tongue?
AND I can raise one eyebrow!
Q. Is there a certain food you often crave for no reason?
Not really?  Maybe sweets after dinner, but I'm working on that.
R. What was the last book you purchased?
We will not discuss this purchasing of books.
S. Where was your last vacation?

T. Last movie you watched? Did you enjoy it?
Oceans 12.  Last night.  Very much!
U. Think of your oldest friend. If you met them now do you think you would still become friends?
We are STILL friends!  And if I met them now?  Probably!
V. Paris, London and New York… which one would you live in, which would you visit for a day, which would you visit for a fortnight?
What is this "fortnight" business?  Paris for a Day, London for a "fortnight" and New York to live. I'm already too far away from my MA peeps.  I couldn't live in Europe.  Michelle would kill me.  LOL
W. Do you usually sleep with your closet door open or closed?
Who thinks of these things?  I have a ginormous walk in closet - and it's always open.
X. Have you ever broken a bone? If so, how did it happen?
Foot - being stupid.  Toe (I think?).  Nose - x 3.  Yes.  I'm serious.  Car accident, the boy's head and then boy being a jerk in the car.  LOL
Y. How do you like your eggs?
Any way but runny.  mmmmmmmm eggggs.... Went to Stella's Diner in Chicago on Monday and if you're ever around there - go.  It was delightful.
Z. What was your last argument about and who with?
I typically don't argue.  I don't like fighting (believe it or not).  Oh!  I know.  I'm not telling.  But it was a misunderstanding, and all worked out.

Happy Sunday!

Liquidation Sale - everything must go!

The Best Thing About Me Is You

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: The Best Thing About Me Is You (2010)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) What would you say is your best quality? Seriously?  That's a cray-cray question.  My dazzling smile, outstanding wit and great ass, of course!
2) In this song, Ricky sings that he's "allergic to tragedy." Do you suffer from any allergies?I'm allergic to Bullshit.  Does that count?

3) Benadryl, the popular allergy medication, is sometimes used to treat insomnia. What do you do when you can't sleep?I usually take a Unisom.  They work great.
4) The lyrics to this week's song encourage us, "Don't wait until mañana." Are you a procrastinator?Look.  I might not have finished the painting in my hallway yet.  Don't judge me.  I might have some unfinished OH LOOK SQUIRREL!!!
5) Ricky Martin is a judge on The Voice ... Mexico, aired on Mexican television. When you watch competition shows like The Voice, Dancing with the Stars or American Idol, do you usually agree with the judges? Or do you think you could do a better job?
There is a reason why they are where they are.  And come on, who am *I* to judge anyone.  Really.
6) Ricky tells interviewers that when he was very young, he'd sing in the family kitchen, pretending a wooden spoon was his microphone. Crazy Sam admits to lip synching into a black Magic Marker. When you gave imaginary concerts, what did you use as a microphone? A pen?  I have absolutely NO idea.  I have never been able to sing - so anyone that I tortured as a child with my concerts - I apologize.  Oh.  Wait.  I knew then I couldn't sing.  I never did that.  So I take that apology back.
7) Ricky began working at the tender age of 9, performing in commercials. How old were you when you received your first paycheck?
When momma put me out on the corner at the tender age of 14, I knew that I had to.. Oh.  Wait.  Never mind.  Wrong story.  16.  I worked at the hospital.  In the dietary department.  Delivering food trays, cleaning up afterwards, etc.  It was a lot of fun - great group of people.  Except Mimi G.  Gosh, she was such a bitch to me. I have no clue why, but she was.   8) Ricky does yoga to stay in shape. Have you ever tried yoga?I really like Yoga.  I might go Yoga right now.  Do a little downward dog.  But what I don't get?  HOT yoga.  I think they tried to kill me.  Not sure why, I'm a nice person.  Why would someone try and kill me like that?
9) Ricky is of primarily Spanish descent, with a little French mixed in. When you think of French cuisine, what comes to mind?
Snails.   I remember going out to dinner once with the boy's father.  He was all proud of himself for ordering escargot.  Big whoop dude.  Eat some Haggis and then come brag to me.  Oh.  Wait.  We'd have to speak for that.  But that's an example of how impressionable I was at a young tender age.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks!  I was sick last week, the boy this week.  The best thing I've ever heard out of him?  4AM Tuesday morning, from the bathroom floor - "my body is having a liquidation sale and everything must go".  yes.  He really did.  LOL  If there was ever ANY doubt he's my kid - there's your sign.   Hope nobody else catches whatever it is going around - it's pretty nasty.

Happy Saturday!
