Anything where I get to be filthy rich and Adam Levine is my husband
Today we ripped off a blogger named regular player, Kwizgiver, from her blog What If This Is As Good As It Gets? She doesn't say where she got it--but it was probably stolen from somewhere cool. Tracing back the thefts of those that we steal from could take a while. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!
The Wish List Meme, part one
1.) What are 3 things on your Wish list and why?
Totally about me - none of that world peace shit today #1 - a new camera - I love my Canon EOS SLR, but I want the newer one with more lenses (and all that was ONE thing); #2 - to lose 20 lbs without having to diet or give up good food, cuz God knows I love food, why does all the food I love have to be weight-gaining (or non-weight loss) food? Seriously.. ; and #3 - a job where I use my degree, get to know shit and get paid a lot of money for it. Yeah. That's it.
2.) What do you miss about your childhood?
Having to socialize with people face to face - no technology - and the biggest worry was whose house we were going to eat lunch at, because I really hope it's not mine, my mother is kind of mean and yells at me all the time, oh gosh let it be Karen's or DeeDee's..
3.) What do you do on your spare time on the weekends?
Well, I had some spare time this weekend and I uncovered all the Patty O'furniture. Cleaned the patio off. Sat in the sun for a bit. Went to Home Depot and poked around. Stuff like that. :)
4.) What do you appreciate most in your life?
The fact that I have a roof over my head, 2 legs to walk with, good friends and family that support me and a kid that cracks me up.
5.) Would you rather be rich or healthy?
Oh now this one is tough. If I were rich enough, I could pay for the best treatments to get myself healthy. BUT.. we're all going to die some day and if I were rich I could help out my friends and family before I died - and depending on how un-healthy I was, I'd get to enjoy that money, so yeah - I'll be shallow. Rich. But then I'd share. :)
6.) If you could go back in time would you and why?
I think I'd use the same answer from last week - I'd tell me to get the surgery sooner. And to save the money from the sale of the house in MA, not use it to live on - buy something sooner, but make sure you have an exit strategy. ALWAYS make sure you have an exit strategy or a Plan B - no matter how much you think things are as good as they can get!
7.) Favorite game as a child?
Lot's of 'em. Flashlight tag, when it snowed - sledding down the hill we lived on. THAT was the best hill ever. And if there were too many cars? We'd go to the Reed's hill. That was fun, too. :)
8.) What is your dream career?
Investigator. Seriously. I would LOVE to get paid to find out STUFF. You have no idea.. LOL
9.) What do you do in your free time?
stuff. creep around on Facebook. LOL Sleep. Clean my house - and right now, it's a MESS.. drink coffee.
10.) Favorite clothing stores?
LOFT - love the style and the way the sizes fit. :)
11.) What TV shows can't you live without?
LOST. Bring that bitch back. And change the ending. I didn't like it.
12.) 3 things you need in your life are:
Food, water and shelter. Those are the things that I need. Now if we went to things that I want - that'd be totally different. See question #1 for that.
13.) What can't you sleep without?
Apparently a good snore. My son just came and told me that I snore so loud it's crazy. Hmmph. I like my bed - it's pretty darn comfortable. I really can't sleep without a bed. Or my pillows.
14.) What are you currently a nerd for?
What or who? Because if it's a who, it's Adam Levine y'all. Mmm Mmmm MMMM... he is just... WOW.
15.) What is your favorite seasoning?
I go through phases.. Right now it's chipotle seasoning. I love it in sweet potatoes. Never tried it? You should - the mixture of sweet and spicy is nothing short of fabulous.
16.) What is your favorite wild animal?
Whichever one can't catch me and eat me? Seriously. I have no favorites.
17.) Name 3 of your favorite childhood shows:
Brady Bunch, Creature Double Feature and Lawrence Welk show - seriously. I loved it when-a Bobby and-a Cissy would-a dance-a.
18.) If you could live as a character in a movie who would it be?
I'm not sure. Why would I live inside a movie? I wouldn't be able to go outside my living area (because that would be the end of the set) and I'd be over after 2, maybe 3 hours. But if I could permanently be someone in a movie? Shoot... I don't know. Anything where I get to be filthy rich and Adam Levine is my husband. And I don't have wrinkles or chicken gizzard neck. LOL
Oh, and because he's been mentioned a few times today? Here you go. Oh, hot damn he's yummy..
19.) Favorite vegetable?
Mmmmm Corn on the cob. From the Sweet Corn Man. OMG delightful. Yum.
20.) Favorite Fruit?
hands down pineapple. But not that canned shit. Fresh stuff. I would love to go to Hawaii just to eat the pineapple that you can get there as a local. mmmmmm
21.) If you had a dragon what would you name it?
That's like naming a baby before you're pregnant! You can't do that! I'd have to see it first. Silly..
22.) What do you put on hotdogs?
Ketchup, mustard, relish, onion. mmmmmm But I also love a good Chicago Dog.
23.) Do you play online games?
Bejeweled is my bitch.
24.) What's your favorite way to get inspired?
Take a shower. Seriously - all my good ideas come while I'm in the shower. I don't know why!
25.) Do you have a middle name?
Yep. Do you?

That bitch has a LOT of steps...
Just as an aside - I have to say I really find myself looking forward to these each week. Sometimes they're great questions that make me think. A lot. About life and shit. And while I might not write a serious answer (sometimes) - it's churning about like buttah in my head... :) Good morning, enjoy the day - it's 51 here already and I have to tell you it is about damn time spring got here! :)
1) In the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ferris climbs up on a parade float and enthusiastically lip synchs this song, encouraging the entire crowd to join in. Do you know the lyrics of "Twist and Shout" well enough to sing along? (Watch the impossibly young Matthew Broderick as Ferris here.)
Ahhhhhh Ferris. We took a Ferris Bueller day once. We all called in sick to work/school and went around Boston like tourists. It was a blast, and we ended it by climbing the Bunker Hill monument. That bitch has a LOT of steps.. Oh. But the answer. Of course. Doesn't everyone?
2) What other Beatles' song do you know all the words to?
2) What other Beatles' song do you know all the words to?
Probably most of them. I was born in the mid-60's and consider myself a child of the 70's. Let's be real here. I know a lot of things. I'm kind of a big deal. You didn't know that?
3) 49 years after their American debut, The Beatles are acknowledged as having a lasting impact on both music and culture. What performers on today's music scene do you think will be remembered 50 years from now?
3) 49 years after their American debut, The Beatles are acknowledged as having a lasting impact on both music and culture. What performers on today's music scene do you think will be remembered 50 years from now?
My initial response is Springsteen (duh...). But that is a given. Same as the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, etc. (see, 70's LOL) But today's music? I think one of the biggest is Justin Timberlake. He is an all around power house. He can sing, act - and dammit - he's funny. I think a lot of the techno stuff isn't going to be remembered as much as the MUSIC. I don't consider that music - it's made up. I think music is actually playing instruments - not sitting at a synthesizer. And I know - JT has some of that. But dammit, he's good.. (and I know - shocked it's not Adam Levine - I think he'll be remembered, too - but JT moreso)
4) Paul McCartney is an enthusiastic advocate of the vegetarian lifestyle. Could you/have you tried to "go veggie?"
4) Paul McCartney is an enthusiastic advocate of the vegetarian lifestyle. Could you/have you tried to "go veggie?"
Hells no. I love me a good cow. Or a pig. Same as going no carbs - can't do it.
5) As a young boy, Ringo Starr suffered a severe attack of appendicitis and almost died. Do you still have your appendix? What about your tonsils?
I am intact. The only think I've lost is my virginity (and really, I could be a born-again). I even still have my wisdom teeth. LOL
6) John Lennon sketched and doodled when he was bored or nervous. Do you have any nervous habits?
6) John Lennon sketched and doodled when he was bored or nervous. Do you have any nervous habits?
I fart. Or poop. Sometimes both at the same time.
7) George Harrison loved Hawaii so much he bought a 63-acre estate in Maui. Have you ever visited our 50th state?
7) George Harrison loved Hawaii so much he bought a 63-acre estate in Maui. Have you ever visited our 50th state?
Nope, but it's on the bucket list. The boy really wants to go there so he can say he's been to both non-contiguous states. I'm cool with that.
8) Yoko Ono was a polarizing character in the Beatles' saga. Has any of your friends ever dated/married someone you just could not stand?
8) Yoko Ono was a polarizing character in the Beatles' saga. Has any of your friends ever dated/married someone you just could not stand?
BAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA
Hasn't everyone got one of those?
9) Paul has had dogs his entire adult life, including a sheepdog, Martha, and a black lab, Jet. John was especially fond of a cat named Elvis and a tomcat he found in the snow and named Tim. Tell us about one of your pets.

This is my Ninja. She appeared a couple of years ago - when we were talking about getting a cat. Dogs are not good in my house. We've tried. But Ninja? She was lost from her home - and nobody claimed her. She was declawed in the front and spayed - and damn, we got lucky. We love her. She loves the new front door. :)

But the boobs are fabulous... that's all that matters
Sunday Stealing: The Unlucky 13 Meme
1. On average, how long does it take you to get ready for work/school/a day or night out? I get up at 6:30 and I'm out of the house before 7:15. And that includes having some coffee, checking email, all that. I don't wear makeup. I don't curl my hair. Damn. Maybe that's why I'm single. Think I should start using eye shadow?
2. If you could ask your favorite author one question about the book(s) they wrote, what would it be?
God. The Bible. How much was really true? How much really happened? And am I going to get a chance to talk to my Aunt Harriet again, because I have some questions for her!
3. What do you think is the hardest thing about growing up?
Looking at kids you babysat become grandparents. Getting old. Jeez, my hip hurt the other day, my elbow's been killing me for a couple of months. And lets not even go there about the f'ing hot flashes. BUT... my boobs are now fabulous. Not sure if you noticed.. LOL
4. Who would you rather switch places with for a day: your favorite celebrity, or your favorite fictional character?
For a day? I'd switch with someone really stinkin' rich and make gifts of $1M to random people - and my friends, of course. LOL
5. Who would you rather have point out a flaw that you weren't aware you had: a close personal friend, or a total stranger?
Well, if it's toilet paper hanging out of the back of my pants - that really doesn't matter. Or a bat in the cave. Jeez - tell me! But if it's a character flaw? Friend. If it's a stranger it might be just for them - it might not be a permanent thing. Like if my nose scrunches up when I'm talking to them and makes my face look all squished up. It might be because they smell like three day old vomit. Not because it's a flaw. See what I mean?
6. Do you get jealous easily? If so, what sorts of qualities or characteristics in other people are you most likely to be jealous of?
Hells no. I don't like those skinny bitches that complain they're fat. I want to punch them in the throat. But then again, my boobs are fabulous. So I'll get over it. LOL
7. Which version of yourself would you rather have a conversation with: the one from ten years ago, or the one you turn into ten years from now?
Oh I see a trend.... the one 10 years ago - I'd tell me to get the surgery sooner. And to save the money from the sale of the house - buy something sooner, but make sure you have an exit strategy. That was just about the time I moved to Michigan from MA. Oh, what a conversation I'd have! Ten years from now? I don't know what the heck is going to be happening - and I don't want to know the future. Unless you're going to tell me the Powerball numbers. Otherwise, that's dumb..
8. Were you ever bullied in any way as a child? If so, how has it shaped you today?
You know, my mother was kind of a bully. She thought insulting us rather than loving guidance was the way to go. It's shaped me into a better parent, that's for damn sure. But it never mattered how thin I ever got - I always looked at myself in the mirror and could hear her saying "you're as big as the side of a barn".. and then she'd hand me a donut. Dysfunctional much?
9. What is one fear you would like to overcome in your lifetime?
Speaking in public. LOL
10. What is one food you haven't tried yet that you would like to?
Haggis. But it would have to be in Scotland. Which really means I'd try a bite and spit it out, but I'd get a trip to Scotland out of it. See the way my mind works?
11. Is it easier to forgive someone for the wrong they've done you or to seek forgiveness from someone that you've wronged in any way?
Ohhhhhhh forgiveness.... Did you read this post here? I have a tough time with it. But when I'm wrong, I say so - and I will seek it. So I guess I seek it easier than I give it..
12. Let’s go random: What did you do for New Year’s Eve for the turn of the millennium? Probably stayed in. I'm boring on NYE. It's the most amateur of amateur nights.
13. What else around here have you noticed?
Um... there's a pretty kitty at the top of this meme? But hey - my boobs are FABulous!!!

Ahhhhhh Boston you're my home
So a random thoughts post for once...
Jesus - what do you say after one of the longest weeks you've ever known? And while I thought it was long, that's nothing compared to others.
My hometown, what I still refer to as *home* even after being away for almost 10 years - the subject of a weeklong manhunt for a couple of yahoos who thought they would fuck with the wrong city. Did they really think they'd get away with it? Really? And once their pictures were made public - they had no chance in hell. Not with the way social media is now. I'll admit it - I "shared" their pictures on Facebook. Hoping that someone, anyone, would know who they were. Turned out, people did. Shocker.
One of the injured is an old boyfriend's daughter's boyfriend. Get that one? He's one of the brothers that both lost a leg. Both roofers. Their lives are changed forever. For what? Was there even a point to the bombings? I hope we find out. Whatever it is, though, it's not worthy of 4 lives lost and over 180 injured. And the parents saying they were set up? Get a grip, people. Your kids are fucked up. Were fucked up. One is going to be fucked for the rest of his life.
Throughout the whole ordeal, I kept thinking of Boston EMS, Police, State Police, etc. - I know people in all the branches - and saw many of them on TV this week. For the majority of them? They have never seen anything like Monday's carnage. How could they have?
As a complete aside - the boy's father is a MA State Trooper. From what I know of him - I'd be willing to bet that he was as far away from any of the "action" as he could get. I thought of that this week, too. He may carry a gun, but I think he's a coward. A guy that can't deal with his personal life certainly isn't going to be outstanding at his professional one.
A friend did a post about families this week - check out her Family post. I've babysat that adorable baby, by the way. And she is just as adorable in person. But.. the boy, with the exception of one sister, only has 1/2 of a family. But the half he does have? OUTstanding... His grandmother and great-aunt were there when he was born. Although his "father" came in while I was in labor - his excuse for leaving was that my mother growled at him. Well, duh, asshole. What did you expect her to do - give you a hug? LOL He's got cousins that are like aunts and uncles. He's got a bazillion 2nd/3rd cousins. Great (and I mean that in every sense of the word) aunts and uncles that are awesome. All of that makes up for the grandmother, aunts and siblings that have decided for whatever reason they want nothing to do with him. Makes me curious why. My brother had a child with his ex-wife. When she was two, ex-wife left, taking child with her - and we had no idea where she was, if she was OK, nothing. For about 20 years. I won't go into it all - but my niece is awesome, and I'm so glad we've been back in each others lives in the past few years. I know I'm the best aunt ever LOL... But my brother? Because he hadn't told his kids with his present wife that he was married before - chooses to have nothing to do with her. God forbid should he tell them the truth. And he's the one with ALS, and he told me (last time we spoke) that he thought that losing him was going to be more devastating to his boys than finding out they have a sister. Mind you - at that time? They knew he was sick, but didn't know he has ALS. Wonder if they've told them that yet?
Anyway... Back to the important stuff.
Hats off to all of the Boston Police, EMS, State Troopers, FBI - ETC.... You all did a wonderful job and deserve every bit of recognition you're going to get. Seeing the people cheering on the streets of Watertown last night, and then on the Commons - that was just amazing.
Thank you for all you do. Thank you for keeping my friends and family safe. If I were closer, I'd buy a round - and I'm sure that you all need one - or twelve. Get some sleep. Hug your kids.
I've never been more proud of my Boston roots, and more proud of people I know.. I wish I were there to celebrate with you all

Bet you didn't expect THAT answer!
1. What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten in public?
This is a question that could go OH so many ways.... let's go with alligator. It was greasy and did NOT taste like chicken..
2. If you had to go on an adventure, with elves, dwarves, or hobbits, who would you take and why?
WTF? Are we in Wonderland or something? OK... I'll go with elves and when we sing I get to be Diana! Seriously.
3. You are at a rural retreat lodge somewhere deep in Wisconsin or Canada. You are approached by a taxidermist who hands you a stuffed badger and asks you to put it in your lap. What do you do next?
Um... pose. Duh..
4. If you were given biscotti, would you prefer it with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?
Coffee.
5. In your opinion, who is the funniest man or woman alive today
Me. What, you don't agree? Fine. Quazi Rockstar. Look him up. LOL
6. If you were given thirty seconds on television to say something, what would it be?
I'd like to thank the Academy..
7. What is your idea of the most romantic date setting ever?
Show up naked, bring beer..
8. If you could go on one date with a movie or television star, who would it be and why?
HAH!! He's on TV. He is! He is! Do I even need to post a picture of him or do you all know the answer already? And really? I shouldn't even need to tell you WHY..
That's me in the picture. Before I got sick..
9. What is the worst song you have ever heard?
Any of that rap shit where they have to bleep out every 3rd word. That's not a song. That's just anger.
10. If you could live anywhere else, where would it be?
Home. I want to go home...
11. Who- in your opinion- was the greatest person to ever live?
Dalai Lama.. Come on, the guy has the best attitude and is just so zen it's ridiculous. We all could learn some stuff from him. Didn't expect that answer, did you? LOL
I knew then that I wasn't one of the cool kids....
1) Like the girl in this song, have you ever been in love with someone, but was afraid to tell them?
Aren't we always "afraid" to tell someone we love them? That gives the other person the ability to hurt us, or to make our lives better. Yes, I've been afraid - but I've taken that leap of faith. And sometimes it's worked out, sometimes I've ended up like Wile-E-Coyote right before the ACME TNT explodes. LOL Nothing ventured, nothing gained..
2) Taylor Swift has been known to write
songs about her real-life lovers. If you were to write a song about the
most recent person you were romantically involved with, what would the
title be?
Oh good Lord. I could be nice or mean here. It didn't work out. So let's go with one of Taylor's about how we are Never. Ever. EVER. Getting back together. LOL
3) Ms. Swift recently turned 23 and has already won VMAs and AMAs and Grammys. What were you doing when you were 23? (If you aren't 23 yet, where do you see yourself when you hit it?)
3) Ms. Swift recently turned 23 and has already won VMAs and AMAs and Grammys. What were you doing when you were 23? (If you aren't 23 yet, where do you see yourself when you hit it?)
23?! Holy shit. Probably making bad choices and looking for love in all the wrong places.
4) When you were a child, did you sleep with a plush toy? (If yes, please include its name in your answer.)
No. I slept with one eye open because my older siblings liked to torture me while I was sleeping (think fingers in water to see if I peed my pants?)... Again - should have known then...
5) I'm making a Starbucks run. What can I get you?
5) I'm making a Starbucks run. What can I get you?
Just a big regular coffee. I'm not really into that frou-frou shit. And Starbucks is too expensive. Oh, wait. If I've been to your city, grab me a city mug, willya? I collect those. :) It started out just because I like a good sized mug, and then I realized they had them all over, so I started collecting.

Sometimes family isn't all about blood relations. It's about who is there to support you, acknowledge you and sometimes, slap you upside the head when you need it. That was a pretty tough lesson to learn, but I think I've come out of it a better person - with a few less people in my life to try and drag me down, and a few more that lift me up.
7) In junior high, were you class clown, teacher's pet, a geek, a jock ... or did you just melt into the background?
I blended... Junior High was where the lines were drawn as far as cliques, and who was cool and who wasn't. I knew when Paul Aleo decided to ask out Marisa Stenson instead of me that I wasn't one of the cool ones. LOL
8) Was your most recent ticket for parking illegally or was it a moving violation?
I got a parking ticket last year for a no parking zone. I should probably pay that..
9) Tell us about the last museum you visited.
Not sure. But I went to the London Museum once. THAT was awesome. And I had tea. With tea and scones and everything. It was quite delightful. And the museum? I highly recommend it to anyone in the area..

We're women - we GET SHIT DONE..
You know - I know a lot of you read - start participating! It's fun, something to do on a Saturday/Sunday morning!
Or at least comment. Cuz I can see you... LOL
121.
Have you ever lost someone without having the chance to say goodbye?
My aunt Harriet. Six years ago last month. Worst day ever. And if you know me at all - you get that.
122. How do you feel about women in politics?
122. How do you feel about women in politics?
Why is this even a question? How you do feel about men being pregnant? That would be a more interesting question. We're women. We GET SHIT DONE.
123. Would you rather have an indoor Jacuzzi or an outdoor pool?
123. Would you rather have an indoor Jacuzzi or an outdoor pool?
Outdoor pool with a hot tub attached. But my yard is postage stamp-sized. It's really really small. Like if I didn't like my neighbor - I'd put up a 6' fence small. And that's what she'd see 5' out of her back door. Hint - don't ever buy an Allen Edwin home. They serve a purpose, which is great - but you get what you pay for. I will be lucky to sell this in a couple of years and not lose a lot of money.
124. What things are you interested in that you study or read about regularly?
124. What things are you interested in that you study or read about regularly?
Legal shit. I love it. Love reading about cases, arguments, all that stuff. I know... I know... I should go..
125. Would you consider yourself to be intelligent?
125. Would you consider yourself to be intelligent?
Um. Yeah. You?
126. Would you consider yourself to be wise?
126. Would you consider yourself to be wise?
Sometimes. Sometimes not. LOL Like when it comes to men? Not so wise. That's why I am single right now - I'd rather be single that with someone "just because"..
127. Have you ever given or received a lap dance?
127. Have you ever given or received a lap dance?
Not that I can remember. But then again, tequila does give me alzheimer's..
128. Have you ever spoken to a homeless person?
128. Have you ever spoken to a homeless person?
I used to work in an ER in downtown Boston. What do you think? Jeez luiz.... Has anyone NOT? I'd be shocked.
129. Would you ever creep into the subway tunnels to go exploring?
129. Would you ever creep into the subway tunnels to go exploring?
if it were an unused line - hells yeah. That'd be like Pelham 1-2-3 only no explosions or guns.
130. If you could add 70 years to your life but only by making some random person die 70 years sooner would you?
130. If you could add 70 years to your life but only by making some random person die 70 years sooner would you?
No. Because that'd be killing a kid. Or a baby. That's wrong. And selfish. And really, do I want to be 120? What kind of life do you have then? You shit yourself, people change your diaper. You pee yourself - people change your diaper. Ooooh yeah - THAT sounds like fun... NOT..
131. Can you identify any of the following lyrics?
A: Nothing to kill or die for... (one of my favorite songs ever)
B: Late comings with the late comin' stretcher...
C: I could make a film and make you my star...
B: Late comings with the late comin' stretcher...
C: I could make a film and make you my star...
Yes. That was dumb. For that? You know what's coming..... Oh, and recognize this lyric? D. I'm at a payphone, trying to call home...
132. Are you worried about North Korea?
I think that North Korea is going to implode. It's seriously like mini-me challenging the Rock. You put your hand on their head, and they swing - but can't reach? That's N. Korea. Batshit crazy.
133. Would you rather be a world political leader or a talk-show host?
Talk show host. I inhaled. LOL But then again, I'm a woman - we get shit done.
134. Have you ever given someone a love letter that you wrote?
Many times. I do good letter. Or used to, at least. Too bad they were wasted on people that really didn't deserve them.
135. Have you ever sent someone a surprise though the mail?
Many times. :) My best one lately? Sending a teenage girl a copy of the Desiderata, because she was feeling down on herself. Nobody should put baby in a corner. Ever.
136. Are you looking forward to any dates right now? Vacation perhaps?
Dates like as in calendar dates, or dates with a guy dates? I'm looking forward to my cousin's wedding in NY next month. Which reminds me, I have 5 weeks to look fabulous. I think that I shall stop eating. LOL Vacation is broken up, S. Carolina last month, NY next month, the UP this summer.
137. Of all animated movies, which is the best one you've ever seen?
There are way too many to choose from.
138. What are the best bands or songs to listen to while driving?
Depends. Am I on my way to a Bruce concert? Then I will go to my bootleg collection, which is quite large. Am I just driving around? Depends on my mood. To cheer me up? AC/DC - Thunder. Must be listened to very loud. Same with anything by ZZ Top. LOL
139. What do you think is the most amazing thing that anyone has ever accomplished?
Duh. Me. My kid. He's pretty fucking amazing. But seriously... we could go from the wheel to a cure for HIV.
140. What could a member of the opposite sex do to impress you?
Show up naked. Bring beer. Not be batshit crazy, and have a spine for the love of God! LOL
Happy Sunday!

Not my douche, though!
Welcome to Saturday: 9.
What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions
every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times
the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random
questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants
posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your
choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
1) How did you meet your best friend?
Which one? I have a few, you know. I'm kind of a big deal. My BFF? Kim? We me on the internet. In a single mom's chat room on AOL. Holy shit. It's 16 (17?) years this month - Josh was just a baby. She lived in Michigan, I lived in MA. And there were a whole bunch more of us - from all over the country. And there was a core group of 3-4 of us and we are still in touch. Still great friends. We have been together through so much, and with the exception of just a couple - we've all met.
Then we have my BFF Julie, and then there's Karen, we've known each other since we were little kids. Julie since 1st grade. Shall I go on? I didn't think so..
2) Mother Winters used to say she loved all us kids equally, but at various times she liked one
of us more than the others. Does your "friend ranking" ever shift? Or
is the person you think of today as your best friend always #1?
We all go through shifts, it depends on what you have going on in life. Sometimes we want different things - and different friends fill that void. Like I know if I want to go on a long weekend trip to the UP, Kim's not the BFF I want going with me. She'll go as far as Traverse City or Mackinac, but that's it. LOL If I want out in the woods looking for bear poop - that's Stevie all the way.
3) What makes you a good friend?
3) What makes you a good friend?
Really? You ask ME that? I don't know. I'm fun? Funny? Good cook. Sometimes a good listener (sometimes I have to relate things to something that's happened to myself - not trying to one-up, just trying to relate - but I'm working on that).. You'd have to ask my friends what makes me a good friend. I dunno.
4) Think back to your childhood -- what games did you and your friends like to play?
4) Think back to your childhood -- what games did you and your friends like to play?
oooh oooh oooh... Hide & Seek, flashlight tag, jeez - all sorts of outside games. There were a bunch of us in the neighborhood and one side of the street bordered all woods - it was great. And we were for the most part all within a few years of each other. It was fun and we'd have a great time. Then we started to grow up. Some of us stayed friends, some moved on to the cool kids - but we never really forgot those endless nights just hanging out, being innocent kids - wearing our clothes to bed so we could get outside that much faster in the morning. We lost one of the "neighborhood kids" last week. Very sad, and just awful. She was always a troubled person, and just had demons that nobody understood I guess - maybe not even her. She committed suicide. How does your life go from hoping the street lights never come on, to a bottle of pills and a shot of heroin? Jesus. I just don't get it.
5) Would you rather lose your hair, or the little toe on your left foot? (Yes, you must commit to giving one up.)
Fuck off. I'm keeping both, and you can't make me give one up. Besides, it's only a flesh wound. Take my piggy toe.
6) Think of the phrase, "like nails on a blackboard." What is your least favorite sound?
6) Think of the phrase, "like nails on a blackboard." What is your least favorite sound?
Nails on a blackboard. Thanks for that. Or someone puking. That's a pretty nasty sound - makes me want to hurl. Orrrrrrrrr.... let's see. squishing brains? Wonder what that sounds like..
7) Do you add fabric softener to your wash or place a softener sheet in the dryer?
Softener sheet. Either Suavitel, or Downy. But not with my good towels. Did you know you're not supposed to use fabric softener with towels? Takes away their absorbency or something like that.
8) Showtime, HBO, or neither?
8) Showtime, HBO, or neither?
Neither. I'm not paying extra for channels I don't watch.
9) Have you ever fired a gun?
9) Have you ever fired a gun?
Yup. Here's a good one. The boy's father (aka "the Putz") and I used to go out drinking, and then sometimes we'd go to Castle Island - because we could? Who the heck knows why... I remember one time shooting into the water. Awesome, right? Drunk, shooting into water. Yeah. I'm glad one of us grew up. And it's not the one with a badge. Who, from what I understand, still drinks like it's going out of style. Apparently, that's his way to cope with being a douche. Not my douche, though! LOL
